I can still remember when Stefan was released, I said to my mother that it looked like you could be walking along minding your own business, when a Police car could pull up and be arrested and accused of whichever crime they were under pressure to solve. Such a shame he and his tenacious mother died so soon. The full, harrowing story of poor Lesley's death and poor Stefan's plight along with both their families' torment is vividly portrayed in 'The 30 year secret' here on YT. It's sad beyond belief and makes you very angry regarding the West Yorkshire Police and justice system at that time. I'm pretty sure that the old git who was the prosecution QC was a future home secretary, which explains why it was so difficult to overturn the wrongful conviction of a clearly innocent man. RIP Loll and Stefan.

While that may be true, I stand behind the view that they did all they could in the Ripper investigation and that their efforts were unfairly described in the commonly accepted narrative.

This case obviously affected you more than most of your subjects. As well it should and as it should all of us. When I was young back in the 1950's, you were taught that if you were lost or in trouble, find a police officer. I recall heeding that advice. Would I now teach that to a child? No way. I have learned to avoid law enforcement as much as possible. Do I have a record? None. Am I often in trouble? Not at all. I have to hark back to a line from the movie "Billy Jack". "When policemen break the law, then there is no law, just a fight for survival".

Sad to say it's no longer shocking to hear what people are capable of doing. Hopefully there will be some jailhouse justice in store for that POS. Law enforcement as well should be held accountable for their incompetence and misdeeds, including the judicial system. Here in the US many politicians seem to have become anti American and become nothing less than organized criminals. However, corruption here is nothing new. Good to know you have the support of someone you love dearly. Lost both my parents as an adult, and nearly73 years old now, I'm still missing them. Carry on my friend. 👍🍺

@@DiD86 Nice one. I was interested because they obviously developed a history of being coppers in that time. I watch your stuff and like it I met Stephan once on a prison transfer in 1987, only in passing but later learnt about his story. I believe that as an organisation the Police are broken morally and in terms of legitimacy to a lot of working class British people.

This case is the most heinous miscarriage of justice, I think that it is terrible that no one was held accountable for the time he was incarcerated. I am glad the crime was finally solved, and the real perpetrator was held accountable. Are you goram kidding me? A fine for molestation of children? 🤬😡

I feel like once a police supervisor reaches a certain level of authority, they are more concerned with appearing above board. They care more about their career advancement or legacy after retirement than honest police work.
