Congrats on adding to your family! We like to do slow entries into the year. So well start with LA and math then add in another subject a week later and then another a week later etc. It's a nice way to slowly get back to routines.

I got my maintenance box from the Epson website for $9.99 free shipping. I bought one so I can change it when it requests to be changed. At least it has one because when it doesn't have a maintenance box you have to mail it for epson to repair when the internal non replaecable ink sponge fills out.

Fellow TGTB Homeschooling Mama here! I got to this video from your Epson EcoTank review you posted a year ago. It sounded like the EcoTank is your go to printer regardless of that issue. My big question is what happens if moisture gets on your prints? Does the ink run or smear? I've alway bought the course books but one of my kiddos has requested I print theirs this next year for multiple sensory reasons. I currently have a laser printer but the coloring struggles has me looking at the EcoTank since it's the most consistent one recommended by homeschoolers. However, said kiddo also considers all of their printed items to be Gollum level PRECIOUS and so I wonder if a sweaty/freshly washed palm coming to write on the page, a drop of water from a water bottle pressure release spray, or heaven forbid the baby dribble on it would ruin the printing? 😅 I'm picturing a water color style mess and the potential end of their world, but maybe you can provide some experienced insight for me? 😇 Also, since you're familiar printing the curriculum you might be able to answer this other question. We have found that when we print pages from the Simply Good and Beautiful Math 2 course that have blue boxes, or like the blueprint assignment page, having to erase directly on the color not only erases the pencil lead but it also takes off the color. Have you experienced that being or not being the case with EcoTank prints? Thanks 🙏❤

The only time I I’ve had the ink spread is when water is spilled on it. Other than that, the every day use hasn’t affected it at all. I do suggest giving it a few seconds to dry before touching it when printing for good measure but I print multiple pages and they don’t smear as they pile up. You may want to use a heavier weight paper as well for heavily coloured pages. I don’t believe the ink can be erased off but I’ve never come up against that.

Do you know if this general science course could be used at the highschool level? Im trying to determine if my daughter who is going into 9th grade could use this as one of her lab work required science courses. Are the labs enough to count for highschool transcript credit? Otherwise I was just going to go with their Physical science course instead.

Thank you for the video. I love hearing book reviews! I've had The Trumpet of the Swan on my shelf for years, but have never read it! The author of it also wrote Stuart Little, which I remember best from the charming movie. My grown daughter used to watch Heidi on VHS (the version with Shirley Temple, which is so sweet!). I have the book as well...perhaps I will read it this summer. My son is 16, so he may not be as interested (although we did read Pollyanna this year together, and we both enjoyed it).

So Epson Ecotanks are still a scam just like the rest of them. Right when the part designed to be used up is used up (the sponge), they don't make it anymore... after only 3 years!!! And you need a key to unlock it again as well?! What the?!!! 😒🤌 At this point I'll only consider getting a printer if they gift me one and I'll gladly buy the ink off of them, as long as they send me a new one when my current one fails. Which they won't, to none of it! 🥴

Finding a writing curriculum for my son has been a struggle the entire six years we have been homeschooling. We’ve tried BJU, IEW Structure and Style, and Write Shop over the years, in addition to various other odds and ends writing workbooks. Nothing has been a great fit. However, we did like Write Shop better than IEW, even though I did take out some of the pre-writing assignments. Next year we are going to give Essentials in Writing a try. 😅
@OneMamaToAnother2 ай бұрын
Yes! It is such a challenge to find a good program. EIW didn't work for us but I want to try Sharon Watson next.
@Ibyte8256Ай бұрын
Have you looked into Write by number? It’d going really well with my son who hates writing. It starts off easy with a power sentence and each stage you add 1-2 sentences. IEW, EIW, and writeshop didn’t work well for us either. It’s something that can be done independently as well.

Finding a good writing program is the bane of my existence! We tried Essentials in Writing this past year for my two older boys (10th and 8th grade). I'd say it was mostly good. Still, though, at the end of the year I feel like they need reminders for basic things like periods and capitalization! I wonder if it's just a boy thing.
