FF13 probably embodied the worst of FF. Everything must be bombastic, all of the production must be topped, no compromise in graphics. Crystal Tools had so much trouble it hamstrung every single projects that used it. The reason why FF13 had corridor design in its first half? To show off Crystal Tools. The drop in graphic quality in the open world was quite obvious. They didn't want to compromise all of the bells and whistles, all of the production value, so they gimped the storytelling, characters, gameplay etc... It's not a bad game, all things considered, but as the flagship of JRPG, it failed. I wonder if it's FF13 negative reception that caused a whole swat of JPRG to fall to the way side as well. The Last Story, Bravely Default, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey (these 2 released before FF13 but still), Nier, Radient Historia, and even Dragon's Dogma all did not do well and didn't get much attention around the time they released despite almost all of them being quality games. JRPG only began to recover its reputation around 2014-2015 onwards to me. Nier Automata receiving tons of coverage and marketing in 2017 certainly helped shining the spotlight back to Japan.

FF13 probably has the best soundtrack of any FF game imo and that's no small feat at the very least it'd have to be like top 3. Maybe FF13, FF7 and FFX are somewhere in the mix.

Reading the sheet music along with this, the arrangement strikes me as being quite similar to FFX-2's piano collection arrangement of Eternity: Memory of Lightwaves. Not the song or the melody or anything, but the feel and structure if you catch my drift. I'm actually kinda surprised this wasn't arranged by Hiroko Kokubu.

That is a song that touch the very part of our soul, the one holding our emotions and allow them to flow until they become tears rolling out. Letting all sad and positive emotions comming out to ease some pains we could have and also the very joy, we feel for our loves ones, may they be gone or still there. Love to you all.

This song reminds of driving around on the Regalia in FFXV. I hope to play FFIII one day tho. I just can’t wait for the Final Fantasy VII Remake to come to the XBOX One in mid 2021!

I remember buying this game for $5 at a Gamestop. The packaging caught my eye, and I had always heard about the series. I was amazed at the quality of the graphics, the design of the characters, and the music. To this day, I still remember when I arrived on Gran Pulse. What an amazing game and experience!

Something I noticed playing recently - Light's theme is melodically identical to the leitmotif associated with the game's battle system, but played with the instrumentation of her sister's leitmotif - which is also the theme associated with bonds, promises, and pledges throughout the game. We can see a comparison being drawn, but also a stark contrast in the way the two see and interact with the world. I love this game and its soundtrack, you can tell a lot of love went into its construction.
