Hi, apologies for the delay. Definitely not a silly question, you need to get a site plan and then print it that way. for the UK there is Digimaps. You can however just screenshot a google earth view and print it too.

Yeah basically that would work, ask your tutors if they have any websites for this they may be able to help. Also look at other developments in the area maybe they have a map you can use? @@deenanabilseddik

@@TheArchitecturalInsider it was the best choice I ever made. It was my only A* in alevels... I did lose my confidence in Dutch during uni a bit just because of disuse. But I had to reactivate it when I took a Dutch speaking job in customer account management (sounds fancy, but wasn't). I'm glad I speak it more again now. I did a law degree after high school but during that degree, especially in my third year when I did a placement module, I decided that I wouldn't be able to do it as a job in practise. Learning it was fascinating, but I don't see myself as the right person for a career in it. So I've spent years trying to figure out where to aim my life instead. Anything that interests me enough to maybe have a fulfilling career in requires reeducation in a different degree though. Recently I started sketching buildings and structures. I used to make floor plans for fun when I was younger (or when I was bored). It suddenly reminded me about how much I love architecture. And actually made me realise how many different ways I've enjoyed it without really realising that was what I was doing! So I started researching architecture as a field recently to see if I could pursue it. I'm 26 and I've already used student finance for a degree, so it's not easy to find a start! It's a shame there is no way to test myself if I would be suited to do it as a job, because it would be awful to struggle for minimum 7 years of financial hardship and stress to then find out I don't have what it takes for the day to day of that job. Crazily enough, that still isn't putting me off - it's just making me want to find more ways to test myself in this capacity. I'm starting a free online beginners course tomorrow to see if that gives me a further sense. So if you know of, or can recommend any other ways I can try it out, I'd appreciate that! Studying at uni is ridiculously expensive especially without loans so I won't be able to make that decision lightly (or soon for that matter, I'll probably have to dedicate myself to saving for some years first if I do go this route). It's comforting in a way though, that if I could successfully become an architect it would also mean my previous degree wasn't a total waste because I focused largely on property law. Even that placement I organised in my third year was in a property development company. Even though I was working with the in-house solicitor, I got to see a lot of the architects' work, sit in on meetings with clients, and go on site visits. Everything I did there was related to property, construction, zoning, SDLT, etc. One of my tasks was to organise the various documents into correct project folders so I got to go through all of the docs from all departments relevant to making the plans in addition to the contracts and legal docs. It would be great if that all proved useful in the end!

@@lhans1368 First of all I want to thank you for taking the time to actually write a long message :) As much as I want to tell you to do architecture i also dont, money is crap and very long years. If you liked the law degree and architecture side that is a good place to develop i think personally. It will allow you to enjoy architecture and nothing is stopping you to do your own design because architecture does have a lot of boring stuff too which is with any job anyway. The law side of architecture gets paid a lot as well, and the masters of architecture is even more expensive, and to be honest there is not alot of jobs for architecture as it is in the UK, not sure where you are atm as well.

@@TheArchitecturalInsider thank you for the advice. I'm not chasing any particular job for money. I've already learned long ago that happiness and fulfilment are far more important than a flashy wage or job title. I am sorry if my message was far too long! It's a bit of a habit for me 😅 I might look into the law side of it instead then. Perhaps it will still open opportunities in the future. I bought a bunch of Francis Ching's architecture books (older editions to keep them affordable) so I can try to self study and figure out where to begin from there. I really appreciate the time you took to read and reply to my question. And I am still in the UK, yes. A uni nearby actually offers a level 7 architecture apprenticeship, but of course you still need the undergrad degree first! I'll find my way.

@@lhans1368 Yh i understand the money aspect but tbh with 7 years of studying you must love the crap out of your job to not care abot a crap paying job lol. But i agreew ith the law side of architecture. If you look at Daniel Libeskind he was a musician and only started architecture in hi slate 40's so never say never lol. Hope you enjoy your future careers if you need any help of have questions just email me :)

Hi, Thank you for watching my video. I personally would advice against maths and human life studies, I would focus on art, dt, and possibly graphics design. You need to get use to design software, being able draw and be creative. Maths and human life studies will not do that for you. Thank you.

Hi I have a question, I created a site plan in Autocad which I saved as a PDF and then opened in Illustrator. The problem I have is that I can't click and fill objects like you do in the video. When I try to select a building it just won't work... could you maybe explain further on how you get started once you open your PDF in Illustrator? do you add lines around your buildings in Illustrator? Thank you

This is such a funny video! What you demonstrated was so simple and easy compared to the level of complexity of the diagrams you imported and placed on the poster!!!! Step one, CAD, step two photoshop, step three Indesign. Incase you guys are overwhelmed by the professional finish of this poster, realise this took hours and hours and hours and days to produce the content he included in the poster! The final poster is reflective of the diagrams and not of the presentation imo! Though both are important. Thanks for the video!
