how do I learn to compose such melodies? I'm good at jazz and I understand most of the concepts, but these things are not taught anywhere. how to achieve the same knowledge of chords?

How long does it take you to transcribe each project?
2 күн бұрын
It takes me around 1 hour per pages and 1 or 2 hours to correct and edit. So usually between 5 and 10 hours.

Such an exceptional composition for solo guitar. Joe Diorio has always been a favourite. He never got enough recognition. But that's the music business for you!

This tune was transcribed in the 1980's exactly where I do not recall -maybe in a Joe Diorio instructional book. Anyone recall?

Joe pass said "if you play in open E a lot, it will all sound the same" this is a perfect example. All i hear is that constant high E string. It is after all in every single chord my god.

I remember this video, but if my memory is exact, he meant; "don't play multiple song in A or E in the same set". In fact, I transcribed many Joe Pass tunes in E or A where he makes use of open strings like that.

This transcription is a really great example of Emily's phrasing with her double stop slide techniques that sound like a saxophone section. Really slick nicely done

Should measure 3’s chord symbol be “B7b9” (not Bb7b9)? I believe so bc: 1. Notes in the measure are B(root) A(b7) D# (3) C (b9) 2. It makes sense to precede B (rather than Bb) with F# bc F# (down) to B is V => I relationship. F# to Bb is augmented 5th or diminished 4th, neither of which make sense to me in the context

Fingerpicked or flatpicked? The last 2 bars would indicate fingers. But not necessarily - could be hybrid or string muting.

I Think he usually play hybrid. It sound like a pick to me.

I have no problem learning songs by ear, but when it comes to jazz chords, i can't make out the four or five notes in a chord. How are you able to hear all those notes? Is the equivalent of somebody tasting a spaghetti sauce and being able to tell you all the 12 spices that are in there. So how are you able to do this? Any advice

One time I recorded a mixtape to a girlfriend who only knew how to hurt me and closed it with this song. I did it out of love, but she broke up with me some time after that after that. Some months too late, she tried to get in touch with me, and after that she did a little gesture, which will only be known to the 2 of us, that made clear I would forever be with her. I think Mr. Greene had something to do with it. For those sensitive to music, this little piece of his is obviously about dignified closure and painful longing.

You sir, are a steely eyed missle man! Thank you sooooo much! This song has been a lifetime goal. I was a pro back in the day, but a Hair Band pro. Discovered SRV, Robert Johnson, etc. later in life, (like '89), but as I am 55, I learned from the Ventures, Chuck Berry, and the country pickers. The guitar has been a love/hate relationship for my whole life. Starting to enjoy it again as I am playing just for me. May ask for "The Claw after I get this thing down? :)

Thank you Francois ❤ 😊. Is this just me but can anyone feel hear this … in the intro Chuck berry reference (is that fair to say?) figure … the four E notes starting on beat 4 of bar 3) are played different to the other eigth notes preceding; it’s like in the slides he’s playing straight 8th notes but then for the 4 x e notes he swings them a touch and then immediately returns to a straighter 8th note feel coming down the pentatonic , Albert’s groove is incredible and it’s making it harder to learn lol , he really a swingin country genius !!!
