I have a ltr I have a riding buddy with a raptor 700 I get him off the line everytime and he slowly catches up.... Every dayum time!! 🤷🏿‍♂️ Trails tho; my ltr smacks that raptor lol

Yeah if you change all that gearing you can get more top end but we all know what happens when you do that you have to sacrifice the bottom end and the Raptor will smoke it

I have a ltr 450 and had a ltz 400 (dvx 400). Ltr 450 is a great machine. The 400's are great too. The 450's are geared for mx and not top speed, but that can easily be changed if people are wanting top speed. On a track the 450's will destroy the 700's. I have had raptor 700's and kfx 700's ask to race me. What I did is make it fair for (BOTH) machines. I found a sandy oval track with no jumps at all about a half mile at an old dirt pit riding spot everyone went to. They always agreed it was fair for both machines being different animals. Every time I would win vs 700's no matter if I was 100% stock engine or had mild build with small cam and slightly more compression piston and I was always on the small stock size tires, wheels and had stock sprockets. I would often let them go first and get the hit as well.. If you really want to make a 450 with more top end mph, just change the gearing and you can always win vs a 700.. Just don't go too crazy on gearing.

@@j20062006 all the ltr needs is a good exhaust good intake & a efi tuner not a cherry bomb but an actual tuner & someone who knows what they are doing with the tuner then goodluck catching thing. That's what I've done to mine & the only thing that beat me is other 450's with similar or more mods

@@kgmr6106 I have had a lot of atvs over the years. I am looking at maybe getting a 700, but just to have something to keep stock and have it for trails and gooning around. I still have an ltr 450 in storage. They are geared for mx not drag racing and the tires / wheels are small which hurt the top end mph. The LTR 450 gearing is for torque so you can get over the huge ass jumps in a split second so you don't break your neck and land wrong. If they were geared for a lot more MPH it would hurt the bottom end power needed to clear those big jumps on mx.. It depends who you are and what kind of riding you do, I still think the 450 imo is superior because of the riding I do. I have dealt with 700's wanting to race me all the time and came up with a fair race for both machines since they are different animals. I found a FLAT no jumps oval trail about a half mile and the 700 riders always agreed it was fair for both machines. I never lost a race on that oval flat trail vs 700's.. If all we are talking about is drag racing on the pavement, the LTR 450 just needs a slightly smaller rear sprocket for more MPH to beat a 700 every single time. Those machines aren't really made for that (LTR), so people tend to stay stock gearing or actually gear it for even more torque which the LTR would loose even more MPH. Just trying to clarify this whole 700 vs 450 drag race debacle.

@@j20062006 not true i havea yfz450 never lost to a trx or ltr im not built or anything i have lost to 1 built trx and i can disagree on that because even with higher gearing ltr will still lose top end its 700 vs 450 think about the diffrence the raptor will always be the king of speed even i can admit that my friend has a ltr with cams tune and all that and my other friend beats him with his raptor everytime all he has is an exaugst it just goes to show u 450s will just never be as fast and thats just facts
