Man i love my laneys. Such an underrated gem. People have no idea how good some of them are. The 90s era ones. VC15, VC30, VC50, GH100L and VH100R are next level. Iykyk

I have the H and alnico combo in a 2, 1x12 format and the alnico in a studio pro and the H in a fat baby, using a Mesa Boogie Cali Tweed 4x40 amp head. I play mostly clean R&B, jazzy kind of stuff, so I like the fat sweet sound (to my ears) of this combination.
@ZillaCabs2 сағат бұрын
Excellent, I like that mix too.... do you prefer one over the other or is it the mix that you really like? I remember your cab by the way, we matched up the grille right.
@wadesummers410216 сағат бұрын
I put an Alnico and M in my DeVille 212, largely based on some of your previous videos. I would have gone with two Alincos but space issues with the 212 combo don't allow for that.
@ZillaCabs4 сағат бұрын
Yeah the Alnicos are bigger and harder to get in combos... how did you like the mix?
@beauwolf572917 сағат бұрын
M/neo combo is the most versatile. M/H combo sounds most pleasant on its own but in a band with a second guitarist and a keyboard player it didn't work for me.
@ZillaCabs4 сағат бұрын
They are both nice mixes. Did you find the M/neo cut through a band mix any better? Thanks for watching.
@beauwolf57294 сағат бұрын
@@ZillaCabs The thing is i heard myself perfectly with the M/H set but the others were unhappy and were complaining they did not hear themselves well enough because of me. With the m/neo i leave more space ( according to the others ) in the lower mid regions.

That pair will cut a bit more, some people don't like that but they are good for cutting through a mix... I hope that's what I said in the video haha. Thanks for watching.
@Tanzi2418 сағат бұрын
On that final heavy track the H and M mix was the winner for me. The sound had a weight and body that was lacking with the Neo (sounded too fizzy to my ears) and slightly better clarity than the Alnico. For the clean track though, I thought the Alnico had a touch more warmth and chime.
@ZillaCabs18 сағат бұрын
A lot of people liked that mix. I think it's a good all rounder. It's funny, a lot of people say that about the noe, they hear a fizz in the neo, I don't get that but there's a lot of people who hear it. That's why speakers are so much fun, there's something for everyone. Thanks for watching.
@Tanzi2416 сағат бұрын
@@ZillaCabs Well it's funny because I have two Neo creambacks in my Orange cab and they've never sounded fizzy to me! And to be fair I was listening through my crappy phone speakers!
@CraigFlowersMusic20 сағат бұрын
I like the classic M and H combo, but I can't help but wonder about the M and alnico together because their response curves are sort of complimentary where the M has this midrange bite that comes out from the high end roll-off being so low in frequency, coupled with the 1kHz scoop in the alnico bringing out its beautiful top end. Surprised to enjoy the top end so much on the M and neo combo, although the midrange was weird on that one.
@ZillaCabs18 сағат бұрын
That would work well, we've done that mix a fair few times... often in vertical cabs with the M on top.
@CraigFlowersMusic17 сағат бұрын
@@ZillaCabs After much swapping and nearly giving in and buying vintage greenbacks, I have settled on a vertical cab with a mojo bv25M on top and mojo bv30H on bottom, sitting on a horizontal cab with a mojo bv30V and Celestion M creamback. Both great combos in their own right, but what an amazing quad combo! Powered by a 20w plexi and paired with a 1965 twin reverb with EV SRO12s in it. At the moment. Haven’t changed anything in over 6 months now, so that’s promising. It's a studio, so I can usually use the whole rig. If I go somewhere, I can take any number of other amps or just grab one or both marshall cabs, since 2x12s can fit through a car door unlike 4x12s, it works out. One cab is up high which is nice in a crowd, and I can point them differently as well to, say, give the drummer a shot directly in the earhole with the floor cab lol

Hello Zilla Cabs mates: Would it be possible to compare the 60s Vox Celestion Silver Bell/Alnico Silver vs. the current Celestion Alnico Blue vs. vintage or current Celestion G12H-30? I find these 3 sounds SO similar. Imagine you had a load of alnico speakers from the late 50s and early 60s and you listened to them all over and over again until you had an idea of what the common sonic characteristics were. Then you tried to make a new speaker that sounded like all of the best bits of those old ones, using modern materials that have been made to look and sound as "aged" as possible. It's kinda like that.
