QUESTION: Do any of these mods void the Mercedes or Winnebago warranties? Mostly thinking about Super Singles, suspension and larger fuel tank.

Do the Terrawagen Desert Defender fender flares not fit over the rear wheels or did you just not like the look? I'm guessing there isn't enough room between the wheel well and cargo door.
@ekkonesters599
@ekkonesters599 Күн бұрын
Hello, to the best of my knowledge, it does not fit and not an application on the EKKO specifically. Reason is the rear “box” is a Winnebago build and doesn’t carry over the lines of the rear van build fender wells. The fronts are really the game changer on this. Don’t happen to have an EKKO or Sprinter?

Dear Michele & Jason, this comment has nothing to do with the subject of this video. I just wanted to tell you I purchased a Sprekko and my wife Lorna and I will be flying from Los Angeles to Minneapolis/Forest City on Sep 18. Your videos were my inspiration. When I saw the limited edition Selenite Sprekko you bought, it sealed the deal in my mind. As of yesterday Lichtsinn RV had two left and the one with the Juniper interior is now mine. I was waiting, procrastinating and suddenly yesterday became the day to move forward. I am happy, excited and a little bit scared. The folks at Lictsinn are very nice and made it easy. Once again, thank you for leading the way. I can't wait to start working on all the mods and making some travel plans. It's time for some fun. I hope I get to meet you somewhere out on the trail. I definitely will be passing through Oregon at some point. Wahoo!

How does the MB handle on rough, potholed back country dirt and gravel roads and steep hills? Is it able to safely negotiate portholes if you go slow, as well as washboards, ascents and descents? We do a lot of backcountry road travel throughout the west, but no boulder crawling or roadless travel. Also, since it’s a diesel, do you have to account for a “regen” cycle, or is that not an issue? A friend of ours has a Ford 350 diesel and when the system is approaching time to clean emissions, he has to keep driving at 55 mph to accommodate the clean out.

Love this rig and especially what you did to it. Is the full body paint after-market? Who applied it? Did you discover the solar charging issue? Thought I read somewhere that WGO has a recall related to the solar.
@ekkonesters599
@ekkonesters599 5 күн бұрын
Flow Paul, first, let me thank you for taking the time to leave a message and check out our video. Lichtsinn RV offered the full body paint. At the point of our purchase and doing our research, they have the very best price and transparency on the cost. Renee was extremely helpful in getting the deal closed and making everything simple for the transaction and we couldn’t be more pleased. most recently we had a few meltdown. We spent four days without the use of our solar and finally I discovered the melted fuse. Since the time I did a short video on replacing it. The video just demonstrates one option until the warranty recall, and the utilization of a breaker style fuse. one of the options that Winnebago has come out with from my understanding and research is a J-case fuse. I can leave a link to what this looks like. The interesting thing is some of the vehicles have a 30 amp have a 40 amp and now went to a 50 amp, last utilization and two of the vehicles that I’ve seen. a friend of mine who worked in the emergency vehicle field for many years and helped design wiring harnesses explain to me that the J-case fuse is an excellent choice, but it depends on the brand in the manufacture. The length that I am going to send you is just for example purposes. It’s also been noted by some that the video I did where I use a breaker style fuse was more designed for an audio application. Well, this is partially true, I did my research and it definitely can be used on other applications such as solar. For me, I was more concerned at the time of getting it up and running, and having an option to terminate the solar as I wish rather than have to pull or locate a fuse. Also, if the breaker trips it’s just like that at home where you reset the breaker. Let me know if you have any more questions and I hope you’re having a great day.

At 6'3", I would like the longer 80" bed length than the 76" bed in our Transit Ekko, but I have adapted. Also, not having the AC over the bed is a definite plus. The layout of the dinette is also nice, but all of that comes with the extra 18" length of from 23' of the Transit to 24'6" of the Sprekko. But most of all, where did they get the couple in the Sprekko pictures on the Winnebago website!!
@ekkonesters599
@ekkonesters599 8 күн бұрын
@@johnthomson5730 hello, yes, the longer bed is definitely a plus. And the relocation of the air conditioner was a bonus as well. Still get a little used to the length, not quite as easy to parallel park in the city as it was with the transit EKKO. no complaints overall and definitely loving the increased ground clearance and modification options. But to be honest, we do miss that horsepower of the transit. We do miss Bad Betty, but Dirty Dolly is doing a great job. Hahaha on the couple on the Winnebago website, I hear they are a little crazy. My Sprecko was factory delivered on July 7th and they performed a factory solar upgrade which includes multiple changes. It is not this modification! Is this factory approved? Solar provides up to 41 amps. I believe the factory installed a 50amp fuse along with wiring changes in two locations. I would not do a factory unauthorized repair.
@ekkonesters599
@ekkonesters599 5 күн бұрын
Congratulations on your delivery and the fact that you already received the corrected application/fuse holder. I understand that Winnebago is now using a 50amp J-case fuse holder. What I don’t know is the quality and brand. My repair is kit factory approved nor have I noted that it is. My repair is an example of getting the panels up and running and an option to consider with own due diligence. November is the then current “recall l/repair date” per Winnebago. As for “unauthorized repair” I do t believe Winnebago dictates owner repair options. They provide a resource and service. It’s also noted in their recall which you may not have received that they are willing/considering reimbursing owners for repairs already made. Happy travels.

For what it's worth the fuse holder we offer for the past two years, is fine for both. We will have an option for 30 or 40 shortly, just taking a while to get the appropriate fuses, but won't mater much since 40 is fine for the 10ft of 10awg in a sprekko with a 5% voltage drop. I don't particularly recommend the car audio type fuses due to the same resistance issues. Crimp type connectors are the standard. If you don't want to use a midi type fuse a resettable circuit breaker is a good option with studs
@ekkonesters599
@ekkonesters599 9 күн бұрын
@@FreedomVanGo Thanks for the feedback and advice. If I stay with this unit (breaker style) I will more than likely use Ferrule connections, although still on the concern about the actual crimp (sized to fit). Maybe consider soldering ends? However I may switch to the J-case or midi/fuse and holder. Assuming rare situations to “trip the circuit) I just have always liked the breaker style. But again there are other options that do and can exceed in terms of application. As always, grateful for Freedom VanGo’s knowledge and expertise in helping out the EKKO community. By the way if others are checking out this dialogue we left a link for the dose option that is avail through Freedom VanGo. See description 😎.

Added a second 115W panel. Wired the two 170W in series and the two 115Wbin series and then took those two sets and wired them in parallel. Effectively lowering my current and now getting 430W plus on a sunny day.

I just have to get that done and contact this company in Europe. If that’s something that becomes a good product I plan on sharing it with everyone.
