Did you install it properly? I have one, it doesn't rattle.

Anchor rope is just rope. Chain is just chain. When you have a length of chain spliced or otherwise connected to a rope, it's then called anchor rode. Some people have started calling both the chain and rope individually as rode. That's the same as calling the head, the heads.

I Had the same issue with my 86 3870, That pump in the water cuts off and trips the fuse. Has to be raised 45' angle. I do not get any power from the AC side with lights on boat using push button lights till i find the reason no power. Same leak from both sides in the galley also the door leaked from the bimini top draining the water onto the door. hahahahah I LOVE MY BAYLINER. You make owning one more inspiring... THANK YOU..

Tumbo Island is a provincial park that you can visit too. There's an old fox farm homestead in which the park rangers occasionally open the house for visitors. It's a frozen snapshot of time from many decades ago. There's also a beautiful cove on the east side that you can day anchor in - well worth the visit.

We used to keep our boat on the Hylebos Waterway there. We actually used to walk by your 38 Bayliner all the time and knew the previous owner! It was always shocking when a large ship went past on the waterway so close by. Has the marina added potable water yet? That was the biggest drawback for us over there. We enjoyed the marina and moorage price over there otherwise. We are now in downtown Tacoma on the Foss Waterway with our Meridian 411.

The water is still not potable, we have to plan ahead before we dock. We otherwise enjoy the space. Thanks for chiming in!

Did y'all replace the carpeting your bayliner? IF so what did you replace with? How much did it cost? Did you do it yourself?
@MikeandGayleAdventure5 ай бұрын
We’ve only replaced a small section next to the galley. We pulled up the carpet and covered the original galley floor and that section with pvc marine flooring that looks like teak. We also replaced the stair treads with pre-made wood treads. Sorry, I don’t know the cost.
@margaretnix52175 ай бұрын
Do you have pics or is it in one of your videos?We are waiting for our survey to be done on ours and I am thinking ahead on things that need done first, I have a lot of allergies so the carpet is my first concern as it is original and mildewy. @@MikeandGayleAdventure

How do you like the 3888 bayliner?

We like it really well. It has a nice layout so you have a 360 view from the salon. It's very comfortable and affordable for a big boat.

I have a 1988 Bayliner Avanti. The steering mechanism looks similar if not identical. I lost steering at one point. There was an oily greasy mess under the helm, I though was some bird or something. I cleaned it up and didn't give it another thought. Then I discovered my steering was inoperable the next time I tried it. My boat only has the one steering wheel and with the outboards turned, it was impossible to control. Is there more info on this mechanism? What model is it? Any idea how to get the dash off around it? Any other help or suggestions would be appreciated!

You might try searching the Bayliner forum to see if anyone else has the same boat.

Great videos! What RPM do you cruise at? How long is the custom clearance process? The Chris Craft is actually old..it's a 38 Commander from the 1960's to early 1970's. They were robust and have incredible gelcoats which make them look younger if well kept. They are seaworthy too.
@MikeandGayleAdventure8 ай бұрын
Thanks! We usually cruise around 2200 RPM, ours tops out at 2700. Customs is pretty simple, the customs dock has a phone or you can call the number and it takes 10-30 minutes between wait time and going through the questions. If they decided to search or if they had additional protocols it could potentially take longer. The key thing at Canadian customs docks is that everyone needs to stay on board except the captain until you are cleared.
