All you geniuses, the car is no longer overheating. And it's not my vehicle; I don't know how long the customer drove without coolant. It could need a head gasket in the future, but for now, it's pretty good. I saw no more oil in the radiator after flushing.
@B2quick
@B2quick 15 күн бұрын
Sounds like a head gasket if the head gasket leaves the chat it'll cause the cooling system to accept air from the head to which will over pressure the system causing hoses to burst and tbh if it is mixing coolant and oil the head gasket is gone or leaving Subaru are notorious for gasket issues it's something you learn to accept when you fall in love with them

Do an oil change, if the oil looks light in color, almost like milk chocolate then the head gasket is gone and will need replaced. If it's not replaced then the engine will eventually blow and cease. It's better to get ahead of it now IMO.

Guarantee you’ll be doing a headgasket on it soon. Thermostat wouldn’t cause coolant and oil to mix. And those SOHC 2.5i’s are infamous to blow a HG.
@GTIMKV
@GTIMKV 15 күн бұрын
Wow nice, but oil and coolant always cause hoses and seals to swell up. So thats why thermostat failed. 💡

Thanks for the video. I started pulling mine apart and took a break and found this. after watching I am puting it back to gether and taking to a shop. My issue is the red wire is corroded/loose. It never ceases to amaze me how NOT servicible this vehicle is. Thnaks again for the video it is clear and showed me what to do. However I am, willing to pay a shop to deal with it. Thanks for your dedication.

What I did was take off the a/c compressor if you have something to take the Freon out and that’ll give you enough room to take out the alternator from the bottom

25 year ASE mastertech. Plug or patch, either would in all likelihood would probably be just fine. Ive run plugged tire on my motor cycle for 4k miles, it was fine. The issue is liability. You touch it, you own it. Now if that patch fails and something happens its on you. And you can personable be held liable. Its a sad but true thing, some people are incredibly petty and litigious. So i would recommend tire, but offer to plug to get them by if they sign an acknowledgement of recommendation.

You want to plug that. Don't patch. Within 1 inch of the shoulder, if you were to patch, it would lessen the Integrity of the tire and make it easier to blowout
