I love finding people who feel the same way about this show as I do! I came in late to the show while it was on, I came in part way through season 3, after having watched and rewatched seasons 1 and 2 so many times lol But this show means so much to me and it's my comfort show for sure!

You confusion stemmed from the fact that you jumped into this show in the middle (more toward the _end_ of the watchable ones, but that's maybe just me). Yes, it was an anthology show, but their are tie-in concepts throughout that would have quelled that confusion. That said, the series is very dark, disturbing and may not have been for you, especially if you started at the beginning. It was excellent though, for the first four series, if you can stomach it all. I enjoyed the reaction, though. I dunno, there's also something that bugs me about people recommending this episode to gay women to watch blind. Like "d00d, if you know they're not in for a £ on the whole series, then don't bother trying to avoid spoilers, and give them a little background along with the recc!" Almost borders on fetishistic. Like "Hey, I see that you're gay, and I know a gay episode of a show you probably wouldn't like, but you should just watch it and be confused for the first 3/4 of it! Yay!!" I dunno, man. Seen it elsewhere. Weird.

This was years ago, so I don't really remember much of what I said in this video. But I'd like to explain that what you think "borders on fetishistic", stems from a deep thirst from the lack of LGBT+ content throughout history. Queer people crave queer content because for years we have been consuming heteronormative media and not seeing ourselves. And the very few queer characters we had got portrayed as the enemy or were just killed off. I recommend you read up on the history of queer representation in media and then maybe it'll be more clear why so many of us are willing to just jump right into an episode like this. I know what kind of show Black Mirror is now. Even watched a couple of seasons and I think it's fucking awesome! This episode was a breath of fresh air and I'm sure it meant a lot to many queer women. I don't identify as a queer woman anymore, but I sure still appreciate it. Thanks for watching <3

@@honestlynicolai I understand your confusion. I didn't explain that fully. Perhaps I can further twist it so I look more dumb by saying: What I meant by "bordering on fetishistic" wasn't to do with queer representation at large (I've worked in the TV [Film, and other media] industry the past 30 years, alongside many who are working toward the goal of breaking the white, male CIS, "Abercrombie & Fitch" hold). This is one of my top-3 episodes of Black Mirror. It's just that certain White/CIS-identifying accounts I've seen on many other queer/black accounts (I totally get you no longer identify as queer.) more recently are still gleefully recommending this episode to queer women, with zero context, as if to say "Hey I know a bi/gay lady! Check out this confusing episode of a series you may hate." It'd be like "Find and coherently react to only the last 1/4 of the middle act of *_Cloud Atlas._* It's just bad practice, recommendation-wise.

I was more concerned that the pandemic got you, so I'm glad you're still alive! I was expecting Nathaniel, but perhaps that's too British? Congrats on figuring yourself out. From what I've heard and read, it be like that sometimes. Regarding reactions, I'd suggest the Netflix remake of She-Ra. Stevenson, the developer, fought tooth and nail to make it as gay as it got, faked extra seasons to get around the company's bullshit three seasons residuals rule, and transitioned after the show was finished. I recognised them from the time they were a guest actor on Critical Role... oh! The Legend of Vox Machina on Prime, react to that too. Two seasons done, probably two more to go, and the second campagin (set 20 years later in the same world) has been confirmed. *internet hugs*

I survived the pandemic, thankfully! Nathaniel would've worked a lot better if I wasn't Norwegian. Could've been called Nate for short. But I don't feel like the Norwegian pronunciation fits me, so had to find something else.

It's nice to see you again, after all these years. I'm glad you are being authentic to yourself. I was hoping you'd go with Nat as a name (but maybe that isn't a man's name in Norway?) just so it would be easier to remember, but I will do my very best with Nick. All the best to you.

It’s one of those rare “lightning in a bottle” moments in tv show form. As a straight (tho, mostly asexual) girl, there sadly isn’t a lot of gay media that’s relatable or accessible for me, cause the themes are generally very specific to things I’ve never experienced (I blame a lack of inclusion in entertainment, which is slowly getting better). This was completely relatable tho. And heartwarming beyond measure. I think that’s why homophobic people misunderstand gay culture… it’s so removed from what they recognize they can’t wrap their heads around the fact the feelings are the same. Like when I tell people my favorite kind of love is between little girls and old men. They get creeped out and instantly label it pedophilia; but I’m talking about the love of my life, my grandpa. That love was deeper and more pure than any romance (little miss sunshine is a great example of this). Anywho, long rant, I’m just so happy more people are discovering this episode!

Xander's donut joke is a reference to a Tom Cruise role where he plays a alpha male pickup artist where he crudely talks about male and female genitalia, Xander representing in this episode with a cruller and a donut
