I never thought about a low exit smoke exhaust system, pretty smart way to keep the heat higher in the grill instead of allowing the heat to exit with the smoke with the placement of the higher stock exhaust. Wrapping the aluminum on the bottom grill though? Won't that force the smoke and heat to be lower and also exit your new lower exhaust? I would modify it so the smoke enters higher

I have the same smoker and had the hardest time with my fire. I ruined the first cook. I didn’t know what I was doing. After several attempts, I decided to just learn my fire. I bought seasoned oak wood and made my split smaller and now my temp stays at consistent temp of 225. Just sitting outside for several hours learning what size of splits to use was needed if I wanted to dial in my cooks. Thank you for sharing your mods.

There is a mod company called bbqsmokermods selling a similar system online but I'm sure they aren't near the quality of these.
