I just disagree on one point: you can write faster in computer/digital based exam. Also, caligraphy is not a problem and in the listening part sound quality is better and louder so you can do it better than in paper based exam. I think i failed paper based CAE exam because of this. Waiting for the results

Hi Ben, thank you for all the hard work you put into making these videos! I've got a question, maybe you could help me. This is taken from the C2 Proficiency 2, it's a sentence in part 4: Once he'd handed in his entry, the only thing Tom could do was wait for the judge's decision. nothing (key word) Once he'd handed in his entry, there .... wait for the judge's decision. Now, the answer given is 'was nothing (that) Tom could do except'. But here's my question, why can't you say 'was nothing (that) Tom could do but wait'? The Cambridge Dictionary says this: But meaning ‘except’: But means ‘except’ when it is used after words such as all, everything/nothing, everyone/no one, everybody/nobody: The cleaning is done now, all but the floors. They still have to be washed. I arrived at the airport and realised that I’d brought everything but my passport! Everyone but Anna has checked in. Nobody but the receptionist was left in the lobby of the hotel. What I get from the above is that, at least grammatically speaking, 'but' meaning 'except' should only be used before noun (phrases), even though some people use it before verbs, is that right? Thanks a lot! :)

@@bolm-us6yb Tokyo is on an island. More specifically, Tokyo is located on the island of Honshu, which is the largest island in Japan. Japan itself is an island country, meaning it consists of a large chain of islands rather than being part of a continent. Honshu is considered the "main island" of Japan.

Holla Ben, hope you are well. Thanks for popping in. Now, how would you unswer this please: I am on submarine or in ? Thanks ever so much for your time. Ciao for now.
@tothepointenglishwithben.2 күн бұрын
Good question! I would say both are possible. If you are referring to the three-dimensional space, 'in' is more appropriate. If you're referring to the vehicle travelling from one place to another, 'on' is more appropriate.

Hi, for every advanced human;) please use chatgpt and youtube vids summarizer AI, it can save you a lot of time; thank me later, there you go: In the KZfaq video, Craig, a former Cambridge examiner, discusses key strategies and common mistakes to avoid for the speaking exam. He emphasizes: Preparation: Ensuring you have the required speaking level and familiarity with the exam format is crucial to avoid unnecessary stress and anxiety. Practicing: Practice with partners, record and review conversations, and use AI programs for conversational practice to avoid mistakes like mumbling and unpreparedness. Speaking Clearly and Confidently: Project your voice clearly, speak confidently about personal topics, and use necessary vocabulary without sacrificing fluency. Vocabulary and Expressions: Learn set phrases for various conversational functions and use a wide range of vocabulary sparingly. Extended Responses: Provide detailed responses and avoid answering too briefly. Expand on yes/no answers. Listening and Interaction: Pay attention to instructions and your partner’s responses, engage in interactive communication, and avoid speaking too quickly. Body Language: Maintain positive body language, make eye contact, and use gestures to boost confidence. Fluency Over Speed: Speak slowly and confidently, using pauses effectively. Correct mistakes immediately to demonstrate language proficiency. Overall, the video underscores the importance of preparation, clear and confident communication, and effective interaction during the speaking exam.

My C2 exam is fast approaching and I want to ask a question about the reading task ,does part 8 still exists in exams ? I have recently done some practice tests that did not contain part 8 .I would be delighted if you answered me !keep up the good work

I've heard many times 'the short end of the stick' that I think means to have the worst part of something, or a bad purchase, maybe between two people, like the one that gets the short end of a stick is the one that loses, or is going to loose. I'm doing my exam in an hour and I haven't prepared 😅, I booked the exam in the spur of the moment, good think I bought the re-seat option 😂.

My question: after the part is played twice, is there still time to write my anwsers down on the anwser sheet?

There are some advantages to being a Brazilian person hahahaa. ;) When I took my B2 everyone had talked to each other on the waiting room. We had entered to the speaking room to take the exam with a little previous knowledge about each other hahahaha. We're very talkative in general and this may be positive, sometimes!
