🤔If I cut a Rubber Plant stem down about an inch above soil; will it grow back? I inherited a rubber plant that was left in one position (wasn't turned now in then), and the stem near the dirt grew sideways towards the edge of the pot. Unsure how to remedy this, and unsure if it will support the plant when bigger. ~Thanks 😊 ~Portland, Maine

So very helpful, especially seeing the progress after cutting. I was hesitant to cut my 7 ft giant, but your video changed my mind. Thanks a bunch!!

We have just bought a huge rubber plant but I want to split it up. Did you end up splitting yours? If so can you make a video on how?

THIS is the video I’ve been searching for. All the other videos showed the progress of the propagated pieces. I wanted to see the progress of the original stem. I just cut my tonight so I’m excited to see how it will grow. Thank you!

Thank you so much. You really help me be able to prune my rubber tree. Which is only maybe 5 feet tall so I won’t be pruning it. Thank you.

Thanks! Great advice! We have /had a too tall 7-8’ rubber tree. It all started with 1 leave in a flower arrangement from my father in-laws funeral 6 years ago and has grown like a weed! Now it has 3 stalks 3-4’ tall! Propagating to give each sibling a plant to remember their Dad, a really Great man! Thanks for the info!

Thanks so much for this video. I have a tall single stem rubber tree in my apartment and is so worried about cutting for more branches. So worried because it is indoor and lacking sunlight; and that it might not regrow or won’t regrow well.

Great stuff - did you find that after you pruned it, the remaining plant was better able to hold its own weight after regrowth? Mine is 7 feet now and it keeps falling over. I'm less interested in propagating than I am in having a plant that can stand up on its own.

Please don’t lower yourself because of your race, black people did that for so long and now look where we are, everyone’s voice is important, we need to preach equality, unison and peace, not this race oppresses this one or that one. Let’s all lift each other up. #TEAM EARTH #TEAM HUMAN

Like noted by others, the milky sap is actually what the majority of rubber items used to be made of. They would put it in pans and then build fires and smoke it. Then take the sheets and put them into bales. It was called “crepe” rubber. When I first started in a giant tire factory in 1974 this is all we used. But then eventually we went to a rubber/synthetic oil blend. I used to load the batches of ingredients on a conveyor belt for processing. I would go home smelling like a forest fire every night! Lol

It's not exactly the same tree used for latex and rubber production. This is a Ficus Elastica native to Asia. The tree used to produce latex is called Hevea Brasiliensis, native to the Amazon.

This is a fun way to get new trees. When using smaller cuttings it will take maybe a month to get enough roots, don't despair all will go well. I have a 9 foot tall one in front of my house from a 6 inch cutting about 10 years ago. have fun

Can you just show us how to build a shelf without spreading your propaganda? And then you dont even show how to build the shelf you just talk about it. You should probably just stick to wearing a mask and supporting BLM and not diy videos :) Thanks for wasting 5 min of my life

G'day Erin. Thanks for your videos. I have bravely cut down my 9 foot tall ficus elastica and got loooooooooots of cuttings which I've had in glass jars and a plastic bath full of water for about a week and a half. They are all starting to grow roots which is exciting. Would you recommend changing the water now? I guess it can't hurt. And Ruby my original plant is going crazy! Lots of new growth and leaves. Thanks again. Steve

An idiot proof plant. Not saying she's an idiot. I'm saying..... You have TRY to kill a rubber tree plant. ALL cuttings will root.... She probably had to give plants to friends.

I only have a rubber plant tree (Bubba) my rubber plant tree has 5 stems and is bushy and 2.5 ft tall. I’m worried she is gonna topple over. Oooh wee I’m soo wish it would just do it’s thing so I don’t mess her up. But Atleast I can propagate and start fresh…which would be sad. Thanks for the video.
