I always enjoy your reviews even though I have no interest in selling my Promaster. I was interested in this one as we’re in South America and Europeans love huge expedition vehicles ( you can buy them used for $100,000 if they don’t want to ship them). I don’t get the pleasure of dealing with the size but you explain these things really well.

At about 1:15 into this video, you mentioned that this vehicle has a crazy turning radius - can you please let us know how the turning radius compares to your current van or the previous truck camper that you had? Also, does the RAM 5500 have a better turning radius compared to the Ford F550? Thanks,

This rv has more stuff in it than some of the houses on wheels you see. Big rvs are mostly just wasted space and don't have much in them.

This is definitely my 'if I win the lottery' vehicle but I feel like with all of that work they put into it, they could have added at least 2-3 more inches to the over-cab bed based on looking at the profile. I can sit up completely in my Winnebago Warrior overcab bed :)

I had a 2023 storyteller for year and loved it. However I’m 6’5” and need a longer bed option. Groove lounge was great but my wife doesn’t like to sleep alone. In the market for longer bed option with similar storyteller quality. Any ideas? Softer mattress a must.

If you want to stick with a van, you’d probably have to go custom. The new Hilt that Storyteller is making is awesome, the bed is super comfortable and you sleep north/south but it’s much bigger and double to price of the vans. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/o6hjirNz3L-piJs.htmlsi=k1iLSeGjhbUvUHKk

STO always evolves. Nice they now offer the fixed bath as an option. I’d still prefer the open layout. The main problem with STO is still their wait time. Meanwhile, their competitors like the Revel seem to be improving their quality. So if you want a fixed bath, the Revel may still be a good choice if you don’t want to wait two years for your van after you purchase it.
@Weretherussos
@Weretherussos Күн бұрын
There isn’t a wait time for a Storyteller. You can go buy one now and drive it off the lot. The wait times were during Covid when everyone was buying RVs.

Chalk my tires and get a very hefty bill for cleaning the tires, rims and suspension... If not a extra bill for damaging the paint on my rims and fenders... Don't do it, it will be useless to you and very much worth MY while...

I would chop off the top of my car and self fabricate a fiberglass shell before I ever spent 150k on something this small. That’s more than what I bought my 3600 sq ft house for. Totally unrealistic unless they only care about selling 5 of them.

It looks pretty darn good, but why in the hell would you have an Onan generator? The cost to repair them is astronomical as well as a significant parts availability issue. Just put a Honda or Yamaha inverter unit in there and you never have to worry about anything.

@@Weretherussos I’m referring to value and opportunity cost. It’s simply not worth it, to me. To someone else it may be. But the value simply is not there. Unless money has less value to someone vs owning a vehicle like this, then for most, the value is not there.

What do you mean purely running off of solar is incorrect? Thousands of people do that. You can absolutely run directly off solar. Yes, solar is to charge your battery to store that power. But to sit and say such a crazy thing like you cannot run directly off. Your solar is completely untrue. I don't even know why you just made that statement🙄🙄
@Weretherussos
@Weretherussos 3 күн бұрын
Because nothing is tied into the solar directly. The solar runs into a charge controller and then into the battery system. If you’re running the AC, for example, you can disconnect the solar and the AC will keep on running. The batteries will discharge faster since no solar is coming in to replenish the batteries but the solar energy is not going directly into the AC. The problem with solar is that the energy coming from it is not consistent - it varies greatly depending on where the sun is, the clouds etc. So if you tried running a light, for example, purely from solar it would flicker, get really bright, dim and so on.
@Van-life-4-Jesus

@Weretherussos I understand but if you use a DC to DC converter with 800 watts of power you can run most things off those solar panels..?

I would love to see Modes and Revels offered on the 170 chassis. I know you would lose some off road ability, but the added space inside would be awesome. Call it a Mode XL or Revel XL. You could have more storage, more surface area for solar on the roof, and a larger sleeping area.
