Are there continuous or online batches to enrol for the delft method of learning ? Duolingo has not been of any help so far, but this sounded very promising

Hey! They are pretty strict with their signups, and I think the next sign up is in autumn. They fill up fast so I would do it now. But also my friend Karen mentioned to me that a lot of language schools hold an intensive course and to look into one local to you!

Hi Kathryn, I'm considering doing the Delftse method on my own as I have already graduated and no longer have access to the classes. Most courses with a live tutor are really expensive and I don't want to waste money. Do you think it's a good idea?
@KathrynLarsen
@KathrynLarsen 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I think with the online website resources for repetition and recording it's really possible to self study! Especially if you get a few dutch friends to practice the text with to reinforce it.

do you have any tips for getting a bigger vocabulary? I understand the grammar pretty well because I've studied german and I've found i grab grammar super duper easy in general, I've been living here in the netherlands for 4 years and I understand some and can form sentences if i take my time, but there's plenty i don't get and so many words I just don't know

My dutch is still pretty terrible but what I always do is keep a word journal! I watch tv and read books and write new and interesting words down. It helps me to improve but also learn the vocabulary I need for the building industry, for example.

Hey Kathryn, sorry if I missed that fact but what institution did you go to for language classes? I am going to live in Delft soon and I am looking for internet pages of different institutions to find the best offer for me for about 2-4 weeks full-time intensive language course (e.g. 5h a day) and finish with a language test. My situation is a little different being German because my mother tongue has similar roots as Dutch so we also have similar expressions like "ik heb zin in". So I would love to live with a Dutch family meanwhile I am at class and do some activities in the afternoon to be forced to talk a lot of Dutch. Thank you for the beautiful video and the recommendation of the Delftse Methode I will definitely look for it. If you have other recommendations concerning my situation, feel free to let me know, I would be super thankful.

I enrolled at TU Delft and I'm pretty sure people from outside the school can also enroll in the Delftse Methode there but there are also lots of private language schools with intensive classes you can take! Tu Delft offers the very intense class for German speakers over the summer :) and slightly less intensive classes over the school year.

@@valeries.5445 I did there (not TU Delft student) and I don't see the point honestly, leave the course and I'm studying by my own

@@lenaamartin36 What dissappointed you about it? I made good experiences with intensive language courses in Spain, so I cannot imagine I will face something different in the Netherlands and Kathryn was the second one to recommend TU Delft to me.
