This video shows how to make a new tool in VCarve Pro for the JTech Laser. It also shows how to adjust the Z heighths so that your laser does not overburn the material.

Thanks, I bought mine a few years ago and never had the time to hook it up. This will give me a good start. Everything is wired, I just have not turned it on.

Hi John. Really smashing video 0004 regards V Carve Pro. Please can you send links to your videos for all of the steps previous to this. I am just about to purchase a a JTECH 2.8w laser conversion kit to attach to my CNC so I can laser engrave logo's etc.... I run a Mach and V carve Pro so looks like this would be best fit. I would really like to study more information and your video was great. I would like to watch the others. Regards Pete

Hello John thanks for the info. I have Mach 3. My question is on my jtech 3.8 laser. I have the pwm digital to analog converter board. I’m not sure if you have that one where you can vary the intensity of the beam thru the spindle output. If you are familiar with this I am having a problem with the intensity being adjusted with v carve pro. I can manually change the intensity with the up Down arrows but it defaults to the brightest beam when Mach 3 starts the code from v carve pro. Thanks for any info you might have. Jerry

Hi John, Great videos. They have helped me a lot. There is one item i am having problems with and that is how do i connect the TTL laser to the breakout board? I have connected the + TTL wire from the laser driver to the PWM terminal on the BOB and the other wire to ground. I am running a power supply direct to the laser but not sure if i should actually be running the laser from the 0-10V output on the BOB. Hope you can advise. Thanks, Dean

Hello, congratulations on how to explain the subject. But I still have a concern about the subject, when it is not cut but engraving would require a postprocessor for the laser to work?

Hi John, I know this video tutorial is 3+ years old. I was just wondering if there is any new info on the laser, set up, specs, etc.. that can help me and others out? The laser I received does not have a manufacture listed for it, so there are no specs that I could find online. Any help would be appreciative.

hi. thanks for sharing your knowledge. I just bought the jtech 3.8 and im trying to set it up. did you have to adjust your beam focus?. it seems good enough as I did your set up pretty much like yours except it was .011 on the diameter laser test . came out pretty good. I have v carve pro and mach 3 PP.

Jerry, I started out with the 3.8 J-tech laser, but I put it on a 3D printer that runs on an arduino - which of course did not utilize Mach3 and the Vectric software - so was not a part of this video series. As for focusing the beam, if it comes focused, then no sweat, but if you knock it out of focus, or move the Z axis up or down from the original focus, you may consider re confirming focus. In my opinion, the focus is next to impossible to get exactly perfect. The MAJOR concern for me has been to keep the current (amps) low enough to use the laser for longer periods of time without burning it up. Good luck and glad you found these videos helpful.
