my buddy in Atlanta showed this film to his class at a high school he works for. many of the kids in his class were excited and shocked on the film's overall work and surprised that no awards or accolades were given for this film. (he teaches a film and lit class) its a classic that should've gotten a few awards its a great movie

The problem with this film is that it has just too much spanish for someone who doesn’t speak it and they get bored in the way. If it would have been only a few lines in Spanish, this would definitely be an award-winning film.

@@omarjimenez6479 that why there’s subtitles for,other wise u take the essence away from the movie chicanos speak both languages,I think the problem it’s a little more complex systematic racism being the main reason.

I love this movie as well as "American Me", they're both have great performances. I always compare these movies like this: "Blood In, Blood Out" is a Mexican version of "Boyz N' The Hood", and "American Me" is a Mexican version of "Menace II Society". Because this is more redeeming and optimistic, and "American Me" was more grim and dark, just like those two movies were.

The funny thing for me is Both American me and blood in blood out were practically the same movies lol but American me was better directed and more depressing my opinion, blood in blood out was far more entertaining and action if you will but both are great

Miklo had it so bad as a kid and worse as an adult. Do you notice how he wasn’t even 18 and he was doing hard work 😓. He just wanted a family, please if you are going to take a lesson from this movie let it be a positive one. La familia es todo y el trabajo honrado no quita lo valiente.
