Is your 2002-2006 Altima air system not working at all? It may be the cause of a faulty HVAC resistor.
Automatic climate control resistor part number:
27761-9W100
Manual climate control number (the one that's shown):
27150-8J000

This is a manual climate control for the 02-04 Altimas in the video. The automatic climate control looks different than the one shown here.

I managed to remove the rear right-hand screw and remove the resistor. What a PITA!!!! i had to use a small screwdriver and a pair a pliers to turn the screwdriver. I have not rescrewed the screws in, but the AC now operates at all speeds again.

Question everything works but my heater knob doesn't turn all the way in to the heater it has a tension to it switching this on and no heat comes out, is this maybe the problem I have before I buy a replacement control switch?

I leave my heater and defroster on in account of randomly it will turn on when I start the car and if I change any of the dials it will quit working, any ideas?

my altima's heater works great but just wont change to ac it stays hot. might be mode change door or maybe resistor idk

Actually, I think that i was looking at it wrong. the one on the right side of the resistor is the one in the rear, which I got out.

What if air doesn't blow out at all but it turns on? Can this be the problem?

It may be the resistor then.

i know this is a little old but what if you only have fair heat at 50mph or higher (RPMs are higher). But at slow speeds and stopped/idle the air flow turns cool/cold. I have had the heater core flushed and back flushed (both directions) and both thermostats were changed. it only improved but did not solve the problem. could my heater core still be the problem or what else would cause this issue.

medef91 if you have heat going down the highway but not at idle your cooling system has a air bubble in it you need to raise front of car at least 2 feet off ground and pull radiator cap/overfill cap start vehicle and run at 2000 rpms for 10 minutes and keep filling radiator/overfill as the air bubbles escape.OWNER AT RCS AUTOMOTIVE

Also if heater not blowing hot, it could be low radiator fluid.

Mine is not positioned like that; Mine is mounted vertically and you can't get to the rear screw because you can't see it, and also because of the angle/space.

I get heat on highway but not when I drive under 50, I read online that it's a common problem with Altima 2002 and it can't be fixed. is that true? please I need help

medef91 I've never heard of that problem. I'm pretty sure that you can fix it. Can't believe everything on the net, right? If you have FB, there is an Altima group, several actually, and join. Just post your question on the group and you'll likely get an answer.

Yes you right and I know other people with the same problem on when you drive good heat are gun it over and over it will get hot and thats not good for the car

+dwg116 No. If your resistor isn't working, your air/heat wouldn't blow at all. Like AzeOfSpadez said, it may be low on radiator fluid.

+Christopher Thorne If the resistor doesn't work, the ac and heat will not work at all. It won't even turn on.

I can't see the two screws because of the black piece that is on top. Did you just keep guessing with your screwdriver to try and unscrew it?

+Ruben Gonzalez Check your radiator fluid. If your resistor is shot, your air wouldn't be blowing at all.

I have enough. my ac works perfectly fine just not my heater

+Ruben Gonzalez Okay. If your coolant levels are fine, then you may have air in your system. Try this: Start car. Jack up front on level ground. Take off radiator cap. Turn heat on high. Let sit for about 30 minutes (rev is up around 3k steady for a little bit) This is purging the air out of the system...you may have some air in your heater core or somewhere else...this should fix it. I got most of this info from NissanClub. The Altima Club on Facebook can be some help too. Check them out! Hope this helps :)

Sounds like your cam and crankshaft sensors. Mine used to do the same. Replace those with genuine Nissan sensors to see if that helps. Don't use cheap sensors or you'll end up with the same issue.

+gary higgins You have air in your cooling system. This could be from a faulty radiator cap. You have to get the air out. Check this out as well: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Z5yldNqV1qypf30.html

05 Nissan Altima. Heater works great on all fan speeds but when switched to A/C, it only blows hot air. Summer's coming and I got kids, anybody got an idea? I've tried charging the system with fresh refrigerant but no luck.

ok there two ac hoses in every car , the small one where u put refrigerant it is called the low side and the one next to it is the high side , they both go to a ac compressor

if there a hole or a leak in any of those hoses the refrigerant will leak out by itself , and the compressor need refrigerant to produce cold air so u need to replace the hose that leaks then put in some more refrigerant
