Жыл бұрынIts all in the video subtitle notes but there is NO WAY to capture the massive sound and vibrations of the Db class on a tape recorder at full effect....... Remember keep the play back at very low at start up

We used to live in Te Mahia ( Manurewa) and can distinctively remember the odd time when two Db's came through on a goods, what a helluva noise they made.

I was a bit young for this, but I remember throughout the 90's staying at my grandmother's next to the railway line at Matata being woken up by the 4am freight powering its way up the hill, sometimes stalling out and requiring a push from whatever they had at Edgecumbe, or the DAR at Tasman Mill, or whatever was available at Carter Holt in Whakatane

Neat. Closest I will probably ever hear what they sounded like on the former ECMT. Probably as load as they were climbing the Athenree bank.

Its like everything Marty, what a pity we never had little digi sound recorders 30yrs earlier ! The Ef's, Dg's. Di's and Db's in the Athenree and Karangahake gorges with all the volume and surrounding echos were awesome. At least this wee snippet gives a clue to those who came along later. I am hoping I will find another one in my archives as I go through them, if so will add to this clip perhaps.... Cheers
