Hey Jimbo Just wanted to thank you for these videos as I binged them the day before the test and managed to pass first go at Silverwater. Luckily I only had 2 observation errors, as you say "three strikes and you're out" haha. Maybe if I had more time to digest your videos I could have passed with better marks. Unfortunately driving lessons are not in my budget and the lessons on front parking and the small tips you give (like signalling for 5 seconds when leaving the curb) have saved my test. What you're doing is an invaluable service and I'm sure many P platers are grateful for this free service. Thanks mate, keep doing what you're doing.

The testing officer said I had a near perfect drive and could successfully convert my overseas license to a full VIC license because of your videos. Thank you Jimbo for all these videos for Learners!! I actually passed today on Attempt 2 at Silverwater. I failed my first test back in January in the last 30 seconds of my test parking forwards in because the examiner thought I was too close to the car beside me 🥲 And I didn’t watch your forward video that time before my test. My February attempt was technically my 2nd attempt but it was thrown out because my instructors car was not roadworthy so that was unfortunate. Thank you so much because the headcheck manoeuvre videos and the traffic lights and intersection vids are so helpful alongside doing instructor lessons. Also rewatching these videos over these 2 months again and again helps a lot 👍☺️

Great video Jimbo, one of my pet hates is those drivers who often accelerate and pull out across the centre of the road when there are parked cars, forcing me coming in the opposite direction nearly off the road, then they either wave at you or look at you like you are doing something wrong. Happens all the time where I live, wish the police would be around and start booking them it's so dangerous.

I did the marackville course last week with my instructor that place was insanely chaotic so doing silverwater tomorrow should have my p’s test book come this friday cant wait

Hey Jimbo, according to 6.6.7 in the Driving Test Testing Officer's Manual it states "Signals are not required if the driver is forced to cross solid (continuous) or broken lines due to the narrowness of the road and the presence of parked vehicles." So is it just good practice to indicate but not necessary and therefore not marked down for if an indication isn't done. According to 6.6.1 it is only necessary when passing a double parked vehicle.

Hi Jimbo, thanks for your videos! I had a quick question about going around cars parked every few metres on a narrow street. When I was on a driving lesson with my dad he said it was dangerous to "snake" (go around parked cars consecutively) even when you're not moving more than a car's width in an unmarked road. What would you recommend in the driving test (this Friday!)? Is it more safe or legal to go around the parked cars in one go even though they have spaces between them or "snake" in and out around them?

What if a parked car is on the left and there is a either a broken or unbroken line in the middle, you dont have to move a car width to the right to give the car that 1m buffer space but you will still cross the broken or unbroken line in the middle, do I still have to signal and head checks?

I would just like to confirm that while you are stationary and waiting behind a parked car for the oncoming car to pass, you don’t need to be signalling (i.e. you can simply just step on the brake)? Then after the car has passed, you can (if required) signal 3 flashes, headcheck and turn out? Thanks!!

If a bus in front of me is indicating left and pulls into a bus stop but the rear of their vehicle still pokes out onto the main road, can I cross broken/unbroken centrelines to pass the bus (with relevant indicators/headchecks) or do you recommend that I wait behind the bus until it pulls back out again? Hi Jimbo, just a random question. Are you allowed to have a steering wheel cover on your steering wheel during your test? My test is in a couple days, and my steering wheel is cracked and peeling from sun damage. I recently put a cover over it to help with the damage and for better grip. A friend recently told me that in her driving lessons she’s was told that she would need to take it off for the test. Thanks for all your help!!

Hi Jimbo If I’m in a tight residential street with cars parked on both sides, and there’s a car in the oncoming lane, I’ll have to slow down/stop and move as left as possible to give them sufficient space to go past me. When I stop to make way for them, do I have to indicate left & do any headchecks?

I'm assuming the 1 metre buffer space applies when going past cyclists as well? And if we have to cross an unbroken line we do the same checks and signals?

Hi Jimbo, loving your vids. Big test for my son tomorrow but i want to ask about 2 problems we had today in training. First was a side street-parked cars-wide enough for 3 cars with 1 ahead double parked with its LEFT indicator on. We were expecting perhaps a u turn but nothing. After a short wait to see what was happening we gave a quick toot on the horn and the driver then indicated left and we passed without problem. Is it ok to use the horn during a test to warn of our approach in this instance?? 2nd was similar......Car ahead 2 car spaces back from a stop sign pulled over and double parked on the phone. To the right was 2 parallel unbroken centre lines with not enough room for us NOT to cross them when passing and too close to the corner to do it safely anyway. Again a quick toot and the driver waved us around with her arm. In a test how would we handle this?Cheers and Happy Xmas

Hi Jimbo, I’ve got a test coming up in Chatswood which has a few Chicanes or one way slow points. (Such as one nearTest centre on Blakesley St). I read somewhere that in a test you need to indicate right into them. It seems strange, let me know the rules on these cause it’s impossible to find an answer online. Thanks mate!
