Classic router planes are very useful in woodworking, but not in deep and narrow spots.. It was the reason to build another one, with narrow but solid plow plane blade.
I saw similar planes few times in google gallery and decided to build my own.
The plane is very helpfull in my planemaking. I'm glad that i make it :)
I hope you will like it!
Materials:
piece of beech wood
set of an old plow plane blades
boiled linseed oil
shellac orange
Band saw - Record Power
Hand cranked drill press - 80 years old CNF (copy of Ixion drill press)
If you have any questions or sugestions just write a comment.
Enjoy!

Oooooh. THAT'S how you start for drilling out the hole. I went the other way and did not make the hole deep enough for the auger bit. It still came out ok, but I had a tiny snag with my aim with the bit due to a smaller target to aim for. Thank goodness it was a practice piece from a well dried and seasoned amd squared section of 4x4 instead of the nice cherry block I'm making the finished router plane out of!

Dear Stavros, yet another beautiful piece of craftsmanship. It is another slant on the router plane design. My first one handled shallow rebates with moderate widths. I am now building one where there is a wide rebate at moderate depth. The situation you show here is the opposite with a deep but narrow hole. Looks like my set will need to include this third plane one to cover all bases.

@@StavrosGakos Thanks! Oh, ok I'm a novice still when it comes to different planes, but after some research I get what they are. Could be a fun project if I find a plow plane or make one! They are handmade from tempered steel, come in different widths, angles and even profiles. Stanley made a steel plow (blade on the edge) in the early 50s with 52 different blades. I sold a complete set in original box 20 years ago for $2,000! But this craftsman is a bloody genius! These tools were made in the 1800s. My granfather was a wheelwright for a few years in the early 1900s and had to change his trade to aircraft fitter - those wooden planes covered with varnished canvas. Sadly his toolbox went to my unappreciative cousin...

Yes I do like the rabbit plane you made. ( Answering your question in your pinned comment). A few questions for you. What is the thick bladed keyhole saw thing? Tell me what it’s called and function please I.e. ruffing, detail finishing in tight places? Also the flex plane? Outside radius or inside radius as well. Thank you for making another great video.

Thanks Nick! That were my edge floats. They are very usefull to clean and flatten surface of the mitre mortises. Check Lie Nielsen planemaking floats to see different kinds of them. That flex plane is Stanley no 113 :) Regards!

Awesome work, only question I have is why do you rub the shavings over the plane's when you're done?? Thanks for sharing!!!

I believe rubbing the shavings across it burnishes the wood.

I still want to do plane making some day, but old quality blades are hard to come by in my country I've never come across something that wasn't a standard wood/metal plane or those profile planes, and even those are not really common

Lego Man 12345 12345 I don’t see them either when I go to flea markets or garage sales. But I have seen blades and specialty planes at estate sales. Not often but from time to time. And I live in East Texas.
