You don't sound bias at all, actually your take on the unitronic tune sounds spot on because Im currently running that in my b9 and I like it but I agree that I would like more throttle response but really it's a sick freaking tune.

I hear ya brotha. I have unitronic stage 1+ for my b9 S4 and it's so much fun. Pulls and sounds absolutely perfect I think. I also have a 034 x-pipe so it just rips. North to 60 in 3.64 seconds. Great video man. Keep them coming.

Lifelong car enthusiast and Audi fan, sincerely appreciate the awesome content! I installed the 034 tune for my 2019 B9 S5 a few weeks ago and am blown away by it. You can definitely feel the quality and thoughtfulness of engineering that went into this ECU and TCU tune given the insane complexities and time investment to develop both tunes to work in harmony. The only thing I've noticed is a slight event with the transmission if I'm cruising right around 90-95 mph on lets say "the track" :-) - I could be completely wrong here but it's as if the transmission is a little confused at that speed on whether to stay in 7th gear or engage 8th so it subtly hunts between them at that exact speed range as you can feel a slight shudder as the gear is engaged which is verified by a slight change in the tach reading. Doesn't upset the vehicle in any way and because it's barely noticeable I'm not concerned - just curious if anyone else is experiencing something similar? Also, what are your thoughts on vinyl wrapping and would you ever consider it for your S5? Can't wait for the next episode/update on the tuner comparison series - keep up the great work!

5:15 I am happy you covered the exhaust valves since I did read on 034 Motorsport's website that the Dynamic mode keeps valves open at all times and if you want the car to be quiet, you go into Comfort mode. I gotta say, that's a nice addition and awesome on their part to do that, very excited to get the tune hopefully by this summer. Kinda wish the 034 had more pops and bangs, to me the Unitronic sounds ideal when it comes to the exhaust note. **CORRECTION** The new 034 tune has been revised with more pops and bangs, now to try and find a more recent review. :P

Excited for this video, but why no EPL love?

I'm currently on APR's E85 Tune for my S5, in your opinion is it worth switching? I'm kinda disappointed with APR's platform development ever since EPA hit them. They literally have released nothing new, but they were the only E85 option available at the time of me getting the tune.

For me the 034 is much smoother than the Unitronic tune. Maybe because of the tcu tune mated?

Bro, your videos are the best! I’d love to try the 034 with their complete TCU tune. Currently I’m running the EPL and just installed their TCU tune, and definitely it made a huge difference in driving and performance. I think eventually I’ll go with 034’s when they release Stage 2.

Do you not worry or have concerns over voiding warranty with this tune? I really would love to get it, but don't want any issues. Thoughts?

Just tuned 17 S3 93 with 034. TCU tune gonna make a huge difference? 1-2 does suck, and sport mode is all over the place. Doing lower dogbone soon as well.

So far it sounds like 034 is the one to beat. I wanted to have a tune youcould feel throughout the rev range but still feel factory smooth and your description makes it sounds like this does both. Just purchased their new SQ5 strut brace and think the tune will be next. Out of curiosity, what are the other two tunes you plan to add besides EPL? IE and ??

I'm hoping that more companies come out with tunes for the 2.9L twin turbo V6 considering how many other VAG vehicles it's used in. Right now it just seems to be APR. I'm hoping Unitronic comes out with something. They've been "working" on it for almost 2 years at this point.

I ordered the stage 1 ecu/stage 2 tcu this morning, have you tried both stage 1 and 2 tcu? Some owners are saying it makes a huge difference, so I'd be interested in your impressions of the two stages.

Great review, appreciate all the commentary.. As a new '23 S5 owner this is all new to me and looking at tune and upgrade options. Does the stage 1 tune without any mods really add HP and how much? Why doesn't the stock tune come close or do this in the first place? Should I worry about warranty or engine damage by messing with the tune? Is this my best bang for the buck first upgrade? Appreciate any input thanks.

Thanks for posting! Helped me make a decision on what stage 1 tune will work for our needs and our S4. Seems like the ARP tune is a little more on the aggressive end of things compared to 034. I'm good with giving up a little performance to have a smoother ride. But are you really giving up any performance when you spend 99% of your time on the streets? Probably not and I like the option of being able to make adjustments without going to a shop. One question about the 034 stage 1 tune. Can their stage 1 operate as a set it and forget it, or do you need to make adjustments as time goes on? If you need to make adjustments, how often do you have to do this? Thanks again for posting!

This is awesome information. I’m pretty much sold on going with 034. I don’t plan on modding anything else with my B9 S5 so I’m looking for a versatile stage 1 package that is still very drivable with the family, it can be my daily driver for years, and I don’t want anything stupid loud.

I just added the a stage 1 with ECU + TCU to my 2015 Q5 with carbon intake. I flashed to the Advanced Launch but that’s not what I wanted. I only wanted the Stage 1 with 93. The car is.l very fast. I can’t even really get on it due to traffic and lights. But I notice it is very jerky. Even if I get on it as I would prior to the tune before even hitting the power band the car shift hard and bucks. It makes me nervous that this will eventually cause transmission issues. I also threw a PCV Regulator body code. I’ve had it less than 24 hrs and I just replaced this 2000 miles ago. No issues prior to the tune. I’m not sure what to do. 034 is very slow to respond. It seems fun but not sure I want to sacrifice for reliability. Too bad you can’t choose to dial it back to something more moderate when it’s not on a track.

Sounds like Unitronics would be easier on components for wear on a daily driver.

I NEED OPINIONS First real mod. Do I go 034 tune or wheels/tires/HAS kit. I have a year and a half left of bumper to bumper warranty. My thoughts are the fitment and wheel setup will look CRAZY GOOD, but will cost 4x more than a tune. A tune, I'm sure, will be great, but I'll be tempted to do other things like intercooler/chargepipes with it, because I'm scared enough of the motor crapping out on me. With these extra things, the cost will quickly snowball up. I am content with the power levels, since i'm coming from a dirt slow miata, but I know I'll get used to it quickly. The wheels/tires/springs will look SO good, I just see the aesthetic potential screaming at me! But a 034 tune right now is 700 something and that's so much cheaper than the wheels/tires/springs, which will be just shy of $5k. Any thoughts/opinions? :)

I’ve had APR for a year and think they’ve dropped the ball. Their development on the platform has been extremely slow. I’m ready to jump ship. Also think it’s interesting that you say your spinning all four wheels on APR launches? I’ve never been able to do that. 🤔. Anyway, good vid.

EPL does not have e85, they only do e40. You have to mix it.

I’m confused, you added a down pipe and res delete but you don’t like too much sound? My ‘21 exhaust is too quiet now, and I have the valves unplugged. What you’re saying about the minimal sound and the less snappy acceleration is exactly why I’ll pass on the 034. Seriously, what will we do more with a heavy S5, 0-60 or track? Honestly not interested in track killing my $70k+ heavy slush box S5 vert anyway. Oh and don’t mind the crackles….this car is way too refined/tame stock. With the top down and accelerating I can barely hear the thing. My ‘20 GLC43 AMG was way more exciting. Dude, I didn’t buy an S5 to be tame. Unitronic it is.
