And now the hospital is in the process of upgrading to an entirely-addressable Simplex 4100ES voice-evac system, after an electrical room fire a couple months ago. Prior to this, they actually had a couple of EVAC-equipped Simplex 2001 panels tied into their main 4100 panel (and the LifeAlarm speaker/lights did the old chiming tone), but those have already all been replaced by the 4100ES panel setup...

The hospital I was born at has 2903 service mount plates with chime bells on it and 4251-20 pull stations. It’s still in service to this day.

@@1996ChevroletImpalaSS Nice. Well, this hospital I was also born at. And they replaced their 2903+9711 LifeAlarm speaker/lights with TrueAlert speaker/strobes (the conventional version, most likely because several areas already have 4903 speaker/strobes being re-used on the new system).

That's probably what happened. I've seen quite a few instances of a Simplex system taking over from another company's system that still uses conventional devices from the old one. I saw this one school that was built in 1957 that had a Simplex 4208 system installed when the building was added onto in 1973, and while the old alarm signals got replaced with Simplex 4051-60 horn/lights in the existing 1957 structure they kept the Edwards 270-SPO pulls that went to the original Edwards system the 4208 replaced. Then there was another school built in 1965 that apparently had a Simplex 2001 system installed in the 80s to replace the original Gamewell FlexAlarm system, and while the old horns were replaced with Simplex 2903+9806 horn/strobes and new smoke detectors were installed, they kept the old Gamewell Century pulls and some of the heat sensors in applicable areas. (This system was sadly removed in 2010 in favor of a Notifier NFS2-640 voice-evac system.) Then there's a building at my friend's university built in 1979 with some kind of Standard Electric Time system that had Space Age 2DCD+AV32 horn/lights, but in 2009-2010 they upgraded to a Simplex 4100U system and replaced the old alarms with 4906-9127 TrueAlert horn/strobes, but kept the existing Standard/JC pulls (and some replacement Faraday F1GTs and Simplex T-bars) and Ademco smoke/heat detectors in the non-renovated areas (some have since been replaced with conventional TrueAlarms and 2098-9201 photoelectric heads left over from old stock).

I’m surprised simplex didn’t rebrand them wheelock’s own et vandal speakers with the ws style strobe kinda looked like they came from the same era as lifealarm speaker light or strobe combos

I'm not sure, but the ID tag in the panel had a WD date of 9-17-86.

@@weatherdan882002 Does it really matter if you do or not? If you don't save the panel when you've got the chance you *know* it'll either be junked or have its' guts ripped out & used as a wiring cabinet, both fates that far too many vintage FACPs fall victim to. At least try putting it in your garage (if you've got one at least).

What state is this in? Very slim chance but if it’s near me I might have room lol

Yeah that’s true. Maybe if the motherboards are separated into 3rds, so 1 board per 2 bays of cards, I’d get that with the voice card on the bottom row and a zone card on top, maybe two. There’s a 2 bay cabinet on eBay

I think it was all voice evac. Plus seeing 2001s with Voice Evac is rare. I like as this.

@@SomeDudeWithAnExitSign When my dad worked at his old job as a facilities coordinator two of the buildings had Simplex 2001s with EVAC They had the Simplex LifeAlkarm speaker strobes with the triangular strobes one of the buildings was converted into a hotel not sure of the fate of the other building. No doubt both 2001 systems have been replaced or are on the chopping block like this one is. They had the same tone and message at the ones in the videos he filmed at UA pre-4100u slow whoop and the default message played x3 then the whoop until shut off

@@SomeDudeWithAnExitSign Not Exactly, I'm a Security Officer in an apartment building here in Chicago. Its a very old 1940's building that had a 2001-8006 Voice Evacuation System. It Controlled 33 Floors, And 2 Connected Buildings. There were 4 Dual Bay Cabinets Next to my desk. We just got it serviced last week. The Original System was a tied, two-stage system(Simplex/Autocall) that had Horns and Chimes on them(Faraday UNH Electronic Tone Chimes and Simplex 4901-9817 Horns with 4903 Strobes), all were replaced with the 2001-8006 Panel in the Late 80's to Rid the Two-Stage system, and Do Full Voice Evacuation for the modern age). Prior to the Simplex/Autocall System, There were Vibratone Horns(Autocall), That were Coded in Floor Form The A/V's are Wheelock ET-1010's(The White Models) on Wheelock RSS Strobe Plates. And the RSS Strobes were just added as this system never had Strobes till last summer when the Devices Were mounted on Wheelock Plates. We got a Deaf Resident and The Management thought the system needed replacement, we were told, No and that Strobe Plates will be added and the speakers will be mounted onto them. No need for Costly Repairs The Speakers are White. We have several High-Rise Buildings Here that have Dual-Bay 2001-8006 Voice Evac Panels, But some were replaced with Wheelock Voice Evacuation Panels, or Simplex 4100ES Panels. Some even have been replaced with Kidde/EST Voice panels, and of Course, Garbage ass Notifier panels(Rare Really here), But most of our replacements are Simplex and Wheelock or EST Panels

Nope, just the tone. The system is long gone now, I'm not sure how the new system is programmed.
