@@bojanu7212 yes I did see it was also at an angle. I was thinking of making one like a wharram for more interior volume and place a ballast tank on the top outside of the v. Do you have any ballast for high winds?
@bojanu7212
@bojanu7212 Жыл бұрын
No, we do not need a ballast. We will reduce the sail area in strong winds. To sail effectively catamarans shell be light - the lighter the better.

impressive build, love it! clever "jig" your dad made there Kevin (at about the 5min mark). I still prefer the manual tube guns over the electronic ones, only because I get a better feel of the squeeze for things like chalk, epox, or what looks like silicon that you used for the windows? very sticky stuff... at first I was thinking why not use shims to help with alignment when setting the windows... but then you said mm work.. so that likely means too small of spacing to utilize shims for alignment.
@bojanu7212
@bojanu7212 Жыл бұрын
Nice you like our project! The distance between Glass and frame is ca. 6mm. You can see the small black discs/shims glued to the frame to get the distance. That requires a lot of glue in short time to fill the gap, because you can get good connection when the glue is still liquid. It is not possible to manage it with manual gun.

Your Cat looks very nice however I worry about the design of the windows. They are obviously great for all round vision but since they are fixed they have no ventilation. Since they are at such an acute angle it will act like a greenhouse trapping light in and turning it into heat.Perhaps their is an eyebrow option to add to the cockpit roof for shade and you can always cut ports into the glass for some ventilation.
@bojanu7212
@bojanu7212 Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I think you didn't notice the hatches under the front windows. If that will not be enough a sun-sail (soft roof) at the front, fixed to the edge of the roof and two pillars, will solve the problem during the anchorage or slow sailing. Other option would be an infrared blocking folie.

I just saw this Cat for the First Time the Video nice Love the paint details,hope to watch and see more. Sir why Are these all Carbon Fiber and Fiberglass? You know they Make Carbon/Kevlar cloth which I wonder why not to use More Kevlar fabric? I would think the Hull would be the place to use That Blend to the Fullest.
@bojanu7212
@bojanu7212 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and nice you like it. Mixing two different materials with different mechanical properties can pose challenges in construction, particularly when it comes to designing for stress resistance and such mixing in case carbon/Kevlar isn’t good idea. When two materials with different mechanical properties are combined, such as in a composite or laminated structure, their individual strengths and weaknesses can affect the overall performance of the structure. If the materials are designed to share the applied stress equally, the weaker material may fail before the stronger material reaches its full strength. This can lead to premature failure of the entire structure. To ensure that the composite structure can withstand the designed stress, both materials need to be capable of independently withstanding the anticipated forces. However, this often results in a trade-off between strength and weight. If each component is designed to carry the full applied forces, the structure may end up being heavier than desired. In extreme case the structure will have double weight. In CarbonBee case, we used aramid cloth as an addition in our laminate, but only in the area of the hull's bottom to provide protection against “bullets”, without factoring it into the mechanical stress calculation.

;-) ... yes, we betrachten this lunch as the technical lunch. The real reason is, we need to go in water, because we have the possibility to get the place in the big shipyard hall only from July to October. In winter all places there are rented for boats which had already longtime contracts for winter storage.

@bojanu7212
@bojanu7212 Жыл бұрын
Hi Norman. Thanks for watching. The windows consist of two tempered laminated glass plates and are manufactured to exact dimensions. Without causing damage, it is not possible to change any dimensions or drill a hole. I believe that the round corners you referred to are only present on the black painted frames.
