One of the best videos you’ve made recently, some KZfaqrs make a whole video on fault finding and cleaning a carb - you gave us 15 seconds, whip it out, straw it through, engine running - chip off the old block… also watching your mum sat in a deck chair perched on the pontoon saying ‘this is great’ was class.

When using a hole saw: Drill the pilot and a little way in with the hole saw itself. Then flip the workpiece over and cut all the way through from the other side. You will have no tear-out as you exit the work piece, as you already made some cuts from the primary side.

Mark, this was brilliant. Out of context this could be a disaster movie, with jury-rigged sails and what-not, but in context it looked like an incredibly relaxed sail with mates and family. Love it - made me giggle! The boat looks amazing at sea. I wasn't sure at first, but the thing looks solid af. Can't wait to see what rig she gets. As ever, good luck!

Driving, sailing, on the hard in a boat yard. Your folks are so positive and accommodating. Especially travelling at sea in such cold and blustery weather. Boat borrom is probably good but need scraping, cleaning, some fresh paint and maybe a few patches to fix. Most of the work on the rudders, hatches, port lights.

Nice milestone, good luck going forward with the rest of the rebuild at the boatyard. Just getting to sail a little bit on it, such as it was, had to be at least a bit 'motivating'. I have a Mercury 9.8 I used quite a bit about 40-45 years ago, and not since. I took it out and went to start it and the darned thing started first pull. My jaw nearly hit the floor. There was nothing coming out the pea hole so I shut it off after about 7 or 8 seconds. I suspect the rubber impeller has turned to dust, but it's an easy fix. I used that motor for many many hours and never once had any problems with it at all. Take it to the lake, mount it up, a pull or two and off to boating, every time. So I guess what I'm saying is that if you drain the carb every time you finish using it, it will start every time without problems. Running and not restarting after you pulled a vacuum in the tank is pretty weird. I forgot and did that once or twice in the many many times out, and opened the vent and it started fine. The only sailing I've done is on the 16' Hobie I own, but again, haven't done it is probably 20 years. At my age I don't think I could even step the mast by myself anymore. Looking forward to see you REALLY sailing, all up. Your mom is my age, they look like a couple of fun characters. "Somethin' had come loose on the carb". I'm betting there's a fair chance I can guess what it was. :-) I hate it when that happens.

Hi Mark, I know the boat is far from complete, but I am concerned about the gap between the foredeck that you built and the braces supporting the outboards. Your dad almost slipped at one point and could have ended up falling down that gap into the oncoming outboards. Also the deck is very exposed, I'm sure your gonna fit hand rails etc, please just make it as safe as can be, having said all that she does seem sturdy and capable. Good luck Brian
