Mr. Wrestling #1 (a/k/a Tim Woods) defends the Georgia Heavyweight Title against Bill Watts. This was taped at the WTCG Studios in Atlanta, GA, for the "Georgia Championship Wrestling" television program hosted by Gordon Solie. Les Thatcher began co-hosting on this broadcast.

On December 17, 1976, WTCG became WTBS, the Superstation That Serves the Nation. And Georgia Championship Wrestling became the first wrestling promotion to be seen nationally.

The confusion is, this is Mr. Wrestling II. Even though he is announced as Mr. Wrestling, and is wearing a mask like Mr. Wrestling's, this is Johnny Walker. Tim Woods was taller, leaner, and wrestled with a more "amateur-based" style. GCW was in a war at the time with the outlaw promotion ASWA and Walker was taking Woods's place so Mr. Wrestling could be in two places at once (Tim Woods was wrestling as Mr. Wrestling in Florida at the time).
