I use a pick tool on the mirror nuts. I use the u shaped one and it works really well for getting behind the nut washer to pinch it up against the socket

3yrs late but when you take the nuts off the mirrors you can put alittle bit of grease in your socket so the nut sticks to it and doesn’t fall

Why do you need to replace the weather stripping?

Have you ever tried swapping the complete front door so you don’t have to do the switch mods for 11-16 aqua switches. Since it will have the new wiring.
