I didn't find fitting the steering rack particularly difficult after I loosened the screws holding the steering column and pinion, but oh those ripping slipping fang dang little springs! They boinged all over the place and I was lucky not to lose one or more. I was sorely tempted just to glue the pedals in place, but I persevered and got there eventually. I think I did the steering ensemble correctly, but it's rather stiff and I wouldn't like to force it. Just as well it will be a static model in its display case and never touched again.

I had exactly the same difficulties as you. Getting that steering rack in place was sooooo difficult. Then to add more problems, I snapped the end off one of the track control arms. You also made fitting of the springs under the pedal box look so much easier than when I put that assembly together. Interestingly, I also found the throttle pedal didnt move freely. obviously a tolerance issue. But I wasnt going to pull it apart again. Still not got my replacement exhaust header. If you remember, one of the exhaust headers was wrong. Pocher sent me a replacement and it never arrived in to Abu Dhabi. Pocher sent a second which got here but was the wrong part. The third piece didnt make it to Abu Dhabi either. When I contacted Pocher, I was told both parts had turned up back with the guy that shipped it out. Royal Mail huh? I do have to say however Pocher have always been very helpful so Im not complaining about them (apart from it being the wrong piece in the first place) . Anyway, really enjoying watching your build

Hey there: Yes, it was a pain and, as you can see, I put it in backwards 😭so the vehicle only steers in one direction. I do not look forward to disassembling, pulling it out and back in again. I also snapped off an end of one of the track control arms; I did not realize just how fragile they are. I must have accidentally breathed on it. 😉 I was very fortunate to find a kit being parted out so I was able to snag another one! Thanks for watching!

Just race it on a nascar track LOL. It still looks great. I have been saving all your videos when it comes time for me to build mine. I have to finish my DeAGOSTINI MP4/4 first. I have to many unfinished projects to start a new one. But I still itching to get started. looking forward to your next video.

You know, I actually did wonder if F1 cars only steered in one direction, but no... I'll have to fix it. Yes, I have too many projects going at once as well! 😂 It's part of the fun! Thanks for watching the vids!

Make sure the screws fixing the steering linkages to the rack are inserted from the rear of the car, otherwise the screw heads catch on the frame and stop it working.

It's an easy kit...shake and bake. I've got the Pocher Bugatti Classic (nearly 1900 parts) THAT is a complicated kit.

Also meant to say that the lack of functional suspension (the real car has torsion bar springs which could not be realised in the model) means the body isn’t sprung! Do not push down on the body expecting some spring, you might break something! Steering the car means the body rises and flops from lock to lock as the steering is actuated.

For anyone else building this - I installed the steering wheel rod pinion and mount after the rack was in. Also didn’t install the steering linkages until the rack was installed. Make sure the screws fixing the links to the rack at at the back of the car so they don’t catch on the frame. This will stop the steering from working! I gave up on the pedal springs and glued the pedals in place. One pinged off and I never found it again! The next problem you’ll have is when the outer shaft with the rod in it only allows the wheels to steer when the rods are vertical. As the wheels rotate the rod does too - so you can have rotating wheels and no steering or vice versa. A design issue. When completed it is a beautiful static model! Don’t expect to push it along and steer the wheels at the same time!

Once upon a time I thought it was great building models with working lights, opening doors, trunk and hood, working steering, etc. But then I'd put the models on display and people LOOK at the model, they don't try to work it. If I didn't say "see the lights" and turn the switch, no one knew the lights were there. Same with steering, working windows, etc., These are, at the end of the day, static models. It does bother me it wasn't possible to make a working torsion bar suspension, but I get it, and as I don't intend on letting anyone push down on my car, the reality of it is it doesn't really matter. When done, this makes for a great model which looks really good under glass! :) Those of us who have built Pocher models know half the fun is figuring out how to correct the problems with the kit, and making the model better when done. I enjoy the challenge.

@@TheTruthCalls Yes I completely agree! As frustrating as some steps are; there is a great sense of satisfaction in rising to the challenge and completing the kit. Well said!

Good suggestions! Thanks! I might leave the steering as is and display as a static model. Can't imagine that I would ever need to push it or steer it!

@@TheTruthCalls completely agree, but then there are people out there who aren’t experienced in model making and will appreciate advice on how to resolve problems, or understand the limitations. This is a truly beautiful model, and yes a static one, under glass. I will enjoy looking at it and showing it off!

@@davidgriffiths4844 Back atcha David.. completely agree. Even those of us who enjoy the challenge aren't masochists (usually). Someone comes up with a creative way to resolve a problem, or figure out a better build sequence, I'm all about learning from them. It saves me from unplanned dis-assemblies! :)
