Hi Colin! They are great wagons, and I have a particular soft spot for the livery! I'm slowly building a whole rake of Railfreight red and grey wagons, and can't wait to see how the Rapido Trains OAA wagons will turn out when they arrive next year! All the best, Ian.

Hi Clive! Yes, I really like the Railfreight red and grey livery, although it's pushing the limits of the era I'm going to model! The price is good by today's standards, but at under £20 they'd be almost perfect! Cheers, Ian.

I always enjoy a good swift one 🤭 The Railfreight Red & Grey livery is definitely a favourite 😍 and as current prices go 🙄 these are a great value rolling stock 👍 It was a shame the screws didn't get a spin 😳 maybe next time 🤭

Morning Paul! Haha! Gotta love a swift one eh? Me too! I'm building quite a nice selection of Railfreight wagons, and will soon have a whole train of them, although I'm pushing the limits of the era I'm trying to represent! In my defence, the colours are pretty! Lol! Ah, the screws! I'm now using motorcycle wheel balancing weights, so no more screws! Sorry! Lol! All the best, Ian.

Hi Ian, another excellent review, i always find the price of wagons a bit higher than I want to pay, as they are generally so small but hey ho that’s what they are and, as you say hunting round does often produce a lower price. Paul and Euan seem to think they’re a good price so I guess they must be. I’m still busy building platforms here so hopefully by the end of the weekend they’ll be on the layout so the station track can be laid accordingly. Have a good weekend cheers mate, John

Good morning John! Thank you! I have to agree that prices for new locos and rolling stock are crazy nowadays, but in the marketplace, these ones are at the lower end of the price range! Although saying that, a rake of ten would cost nearly £250, which is bonkers!!! Good luck with the platform building! I look forward to seeing the results! I'm still wrangling code 55 track, and hopefully next week's video will be about the big code 55 / code 80 decision! Enjoy your weekend too mate! All the best, Ian.

Hi Ian - as Paul said in his comment - do enjoy a swift one 😅. On a more serious note - they are good value with still a good amount of detail. I have older versions which don't have NEM pockets - so these must be a slightly upgraded batch run from Bachmann. Cheers Euan

Morning Euan! Haha! Yeah, gotta love a swift one! I agree that they're good value by today's standards, but at under £20 they'd be tremendous! I think the wagons have been recently released with new tooling, hence the addition of NEM pockets! I've got some new Rapido OAA wagons on preorder, so it will be very interesting to see how they compare! All the best, Ian.

Hi Ian A very good review I think, swift and too the point, yes the prices of any new Bachmann N gauge is too dear, although for £23 or so these aren't bad, I will want some of these so will have to have a look around the model shops to find a good price. Thanks Pete
@iansngauge
@iansngauge 6 ай бұрын
Thanks Pete! Yeah, a lot of Bachmann stuff is especially pricey, but some of their wagons are more reasonable. Obviously I'd prefer the wagons to be around the same price point as Peco ones, but these seem a little more detailed, have working NEM pockets, and come pre-fitted with metal wheels! I'm sure you'll be happy with them when you get them as they're great runners! All the best, Ian.

They look really good Ian - wont really fit for my layout as I am modelling an older era but a great find. It will be some time next year when I start to really build up my stock so will look at Bachmann more closely in 2024. Have a great xmas mate and I'll see you 2024. Regards Steve

Hi Steve! Would the "freight brown" livery be any good to you? The colour was introduced in 1964, so may still be a little late for your era. It's fun building rakes of wagons, especially when mixing and matching different types, so I think you'll enjoy the process! Hope your recuperation period is going well! Enjoy your Christmas too! All the best, Ian.

Hi Ian - Brilliant update. I enjoy your presentations as much as the subject you talk about, very professional. Lovely wagons, too early for my era though. I understand why they will not freely run round that bend but I still find it strange especially after you show it on a straight section of track. I see you have not answered my last comment for video 089, sorry too many questions or is it going to be a full update lol Regards Chris

Hi Chris! Thank you so much! I believe the wagons date back to 1964 in the brown freight livery, so I guess that's too late for your era? I'm really sorry, but I don't see a comment from you on video 089! KZfaq has been acting weirdly lately, and a number of people have contacted me saying their comment has been deleted! Please leave another comment and I'll be happy to answer any questions you have! All the best, Ian.

I have reposted it Ian. Very strange what has happened but its not the first time I have heard of it. I sometimes do not get post that a new update has been added to KZfaq or I have it in my queue to watch and it then disappears into having been watched when i have not. Regards Chris

Hi Ian. Nice review. Just to tweak your nose a little: did you not shop around for £20 or less?

Thanks Paul! Haha! I actually saw the wagon a little cheaper after I'd purchased it, and wondered if the price would drop further, but it hasn't fallen below £20 yet that I've seen! Cheers, Ian.

I guess with your country being so small land mass wise Freight trains would make up less of the overall train trafic. I'm used to canada where we're so big and Freight rail makes up 90% or more of what we have on the tracks and out west here we have maybe one maybe two passenger services and usually they are expensive tourist oriented services more so than designed to take actual non vacationing people from point A to B
@iansngauge

Transport of freight used to be big business in the UK until a few decades ago, but declined rapidly when road transportation became cheaper! I think rail freight now accounts for less than 10% of the UK market! Happily I'm modelling my way through the 1970's and early 1980's so I have the luxury of being able to run a few of these wagons! All the best, Ian.

@@iansngauge My family owns a summer cabin which is separated by only a 1 lane dirt road from the Main line of Canadian Pacific Rail so you get big long freight trains almost hourly and the only passenger service you see is the Luxury Tourist Rockey Mountaineer maybe once per week. They get quite loud behind us because we're right on a point so we get all the point noise I love being there and watching the trains go by and even more so now that I have son (Currently almost 5) to do it with.
@iansngauge
@iansngauge 6 ай бұрын
@@evileyeball - Sounds like the summer cabin is in an ideal position for spotting - and listening to trains go by! It's funny how a sound can evoke quite strong memories, even after years of not hearing it! I bet your son will grow up being as enthusiastic about trains as you! Cheers, Ian.
