When it was bad it could be very bad; but, when it was good, it could be very good...

I thought it was pretty good actually. It started bad but they made it much better.

6 July is my birthday, I turned seven years old when Eldorado first aired in 1992. I may have only been seven years old, but I remember watching it at 7.00pm on BBC One with my mum and dad, who watched open mouthed at how awful it was. I think we stomached it for a week or two then went over to ITV for 7.00pm.

I bet ITV thought that the BBC had made a new high budget comedy to go against Coronation Street 😂

The age inappropriate creepy relationships & a few wooden actors scuppered it. Such a huge shame as when Julia Smith left it got so much better. The difference was like night & day.

The initial idea of 'Little England' sounded quite good, an ironic twist to the situation providing originality for a soap. But, the not so subtle injection of political propaganda, namely the integration of UK into EEC which was a biggy for the left of the left of centre beeb in those days (and today), ruined it. Eldorado was rubbish because the British public saw straight through it's patronising agenda. The beeb have refined their propaganda techniques nowadays.

Did I not watch the last two videos because Verity Lambert isn’t mentioned, was this after her death in 2007?

Why did they have foreign language dialogue without subtitles? What were they thinking? Or smoking? And how many Danes would expect British people to understand Danish?

I bet the Bunny/Fizz storyline wouldn't be controversial these days.

Honestly, what was their reason for not including subtitles?
@ItsRickysChannelSHORTS7 жыл бұрын
There was none. except possibly the fact the whole production was rushed. Just like EastEnders, filming started with "the paint barely dry" Lets not get into the whole casting thing, the episodes where filmed in two-few takes and the direction was off. And with the production being rushed possibly caused the editing to be rushed as well. The cast knew what they were saying and so did the crew, but they possibly missed out on subs because of time constrants.

To be honest, even when the BBC ran trailers for this show it looked utter garbage. I can remember them clearly and it looked dated, cheesy and badly acted even in the trailers. It was a bad idea, badly made and would only happen at the BBC who have squandered tons of taxpayers money on shite like this.

public broadcasting means not pampering to commercial concerns or just marketing as fact is has become clear the public loved this fresh new show and rather was a cover-up for something else as usual that got it closed down.. shameful never watch the BBC any more..

I used to watch this with a friend as it was so hilariously awful. And as for having foreign dialogue without subtitles, well that must be one of the most stupidest decisions ever made, he he.
