The way of kings video is what got me interested in the channel. It's easy to listen to people who are genuinely passionate and curious about something. Not surprising that that video was the sanderlanche for the channel.

I believe Sanderson said that he tried to make Mystborn Grimdark. But Kelsier and the Lord Ruler was as dark as he could go. Lol!

My wife and I already have 2 kids, but if we are blessed with another boy, His first name will be Dallin (my name) and his middle name will be Ryan (my dads name) that way we can call him Dallin R. Fans of the cosmere will know that we named him after Dalinar, but other people will just think we are adding the middle initial to differentiate him from me. I also appreciated your opinions on monitoring books for your kids. I will give them agency to choose which books to read, but I will also strongly encourage them to choose books that make them feel good. Just my take. Thanks for starting this community!

Congratulations on 1000. I have a really big suggestion. I am seconding the idea that you should announce at least one month in advance The books you will be covering. there has been several times. I have wanted to watch one of your videos and I could not because I haven’t read the book. Please at least put them in the community tab on KZfaq and make a KZfaq short And mention them in the videos. You could also do poles in the community tab for anything I feel like it would help engagement. Your stuff is awesome. 🎉🎉Keep it up has become a part of my schedule.

Congrats. I've been following you guys since the beginning and you're one of my fave channels now apart from fantology. In terms of discord - they can be great but the community function on youtube seems to be working for you? Selfishly I hope you get bit but not so massive that you 'change' like pretty much all booktube channels change. I don't think I have seen any manage to hang onto their original character / personality / authenticity :( They pretty much all get more theatrical / melodramatic / over the top / LOUDER and click baity the more popular they get ... and worse, they often pull their punches and kind of censor what they say and also change what they read. They then also start to chase the algorithm and the numbers and them many of them get stressed and it's pretty clear to me that don't enjoy the hobby they used to LOVE. The other thing is as they get more popular, they tend to cast shade on Sanderson more as it's not considered cool to like him when you're huge and you're supposed to like Grimdark or Rothfuss more. Sorry I sound so cynical and bleak - I watch a lot of booktube and have seen the trajectory for so many booktubers :(

Thank you!! We’ve also noticed some similar things! Hopefully we can hold true to that vibe you like. It’s been a fun journey so far! Pretty sure Sanderson will always be unashamedly one of my favorite authors of all time. His story telling is just fantastic!

I think ur takes on reading restrictions are pretty much exactly mine, let them read anything but maybe talk about specific topics before. + Yeah a discord would be cool too in general, mb with like a reading spreadsheet or something? Whatever. Congratz again!! I think i subbed when yall had either 50 or 150 subs, so you already have like an order of magnitude more subs than when i started watching. To many more! Or well, a few orders of magnitude more should be enough 😂
