Respect for changing a fork spring at the track on a July day in Florida. I've been dragging my feet on swapping my stock '05 yz125 pipe and silencer onto my bike in place of the PC RV pipe and 304 silencer while at the track to get that back-to-back comparison, but I have brought them with me (been riding around in the back seat of my pickup for over a year now haha).

I really like the natural video. No stabilizibg. The shakyness is exactly what you are experiencing. I turned it off on the GoPro 9, and it is crazy how much more shaky it is. I could feel the roughness because I have ridden 74. Lol, you were giving her the beans, too! I was winded hearing you grunt picking her up.

Right on! I found turning stability on makes it look like a drone flying and doesnt show the struggle of the ride lol. It was a hot but good day at 74 They are slowly but surely making the track better and better, everytime I go it seems a little better. Hopefully you can make it out with us this weekend!

Great info. Suspension tuning is my week point for sure. I'm an old trail rider and we just turn the clickers down for a soft ride.Now that my sons are doing more track riding I'm really struggling trying to help them adjust their suspension.I did use the ATF when I rebuilt our YZ125 forks and my son did say it felt more plush.Thanks

Thanks! Trail riding sounds fun right now, Looking forward to hare scramble season again. Yeah I'm still using ATF as well. But that mobile 1 synthetic is getting harder to find these days.

That bike is a beast! Sounds like a big bore down low and screams like 125 up top. Glads it's working out for you and love to learn from these vids. I'll always be a 125 Weenie but it's still a blast. I was tired of the injuries and peadaling on MTB so great Idea, get a dirt bike. I'll never learn. LOL!

Much respect to you and the experience you have, especially the suspension tuning you do. I have 2 brand new bone stock dirt bikes ('24 300 SX and '24 YZ250) and I just can't see myself ever riding them expertly enough to need anything but the stock front and rear forks/springs/shock and settings they came with. I barely even know what a clicker is and what compression/rebound is LOL. I'm a little fatter than you, at 5'11 200-ish lbs. However, I haven't bottomed out the suspensions, but then again I lack anywhere good to ride and have not hit jumps with the bikes (yet). I hope I develop some intelligence about suspension tuning and will keep watching you to help with this.

Thanks! Luckily suspension theses day doesnt take nearly the amount of work that it took to get it right back in the day. For the most part your 24 YZ250 and 24 300SX will be good enough right out the box. Just 20 years ago any brand or model needed a ton of tuning if I wanted to be able to ride it fast safely. We have it so good today lol. But if you do ever want to learn My suggestion is start with one setting at a time, mark it so you know where its at so you can put it back if needed, and play with that setting a little. See how it feels and what it changes. After you figure that setting out then move to the next setting and do the same. Its time consuming but when the work is done the bike will be customized to the rider and thats a great feeling.

LoL, right! Mid day I was like all this would be so much easier if it was not summer lol. Looking forward to taking her out this coming weekend with no tuning in mind, just riding. Now that all the hard work is done.

Take a little bit of high speed comp out of the rear to lower the rear a small bit
@UpAllNight91
@UpAllNight91 Ай бұрын
Yes lowering the high speed does give the feeling of a lower rear end. But the feeling I was feeling felt more like the rear was just a hair too tall and beating up on the front end. I do still need to tinker with the highspeed some though. See if there is anything better there.

With the mods you did on it Is that bike scary at all? Too much/not enough/just right on the power? My stocker scares me and yours is way more hopped up.
@UpAllNight91

Hello. The top end power is pretty crazy fast but the bottom and mid range is pretty controllable. I can thank the V force 4X reeds with the spacer for taming down the bottom and mid to a controllable level, while boosting the top end as a trade off. This works for me because some of the tracks I ride where its real tacky and hard to use all the power I need the throttle control in the bottom and mid to control the bikes power delivery. But then other tracks I ride that are sandier and deeper I need all the power I can get and the top end power is there for them tracks. If you want to tame down the overly snappy feel maybe try the V force 4X with the stock reed spacer. It surely brings in crisp but controllable power and throttle control IMO.

I wonder if the springs shorten up a little bit rather than loose rate? A spacer might save you money next time?
@UpAllNight91
@UpAllNight91 Ай бұрын
They do get a hair shorter through time. I can find older springs about 1mm shorter. I'm going to guess its a combo of both, slightly shorter and slightly less tension after break in.
