It looks like they have made a lot of improvements to the excavators over the years, as this one is much neater inside than Aaron's earlier versions from RC4WD. I had forgotten Cat uses a different control layout than everyone else. A great explanation on the radio and setting up the mixing of servo and pump.

I have a question in regards to the mixing. As they mixed it in this video the mixing was only for being able to move the bucket and arms while the pump was not on. However, is it possible to mix without the delay so that you use the mixing also when digging? Or do you have to have the pump on 100% when digging?
@thatsmyrc
@thatsmyrc 2 жыл бұрын
@@rcrelatedstuff6092 the mix is set up for the pump not to be running continuously. as soon as you move your stick on the transmitter it will then turn on the pump 100%. there is a slight delay in the beginning of the movement only because the pump is building its pressure. As long as the sticks on transmitter are in motion the pump will be at 100% if there is a stop in sticks the pump shuts off and repeats action when movement it made again on sticks.

Great to see how to change the control patterns. Even though we don't actually have any CAT machines I think that's how all of ours are set up, I can't remember for sure though because it's muscle memory at this point. FYI most guys (at least around here) call the "forward boom" the stick, and the "aft boom" is just the boom.

With tractors and trailers that do everything a real one does (working fifth wheel, trailer drop legs and air suspension etc.) the only thing missing is exhaust smoke. Have you ever considered using a 10-16 volt 5 millimeter smoke generator from the model train world on a project? This would really be neat on construction equipment or trucks. If you can do light up dash instruments then this should be a piece of cake for you.

You did a great job on the video! That is a nice looking excavator. I don't have the Bier sound system in mine. I have the Servonaut SMB unit which requires 4 mixes to do all the sounds. That radio only has 4 mixes. So in the end, you can't mix the pump cause all available mixes will be the sounds. I've been debating on getting another radio with more mixes so I can do both the sound and the pump on my excavator. My 870K has the pump mixed and it is nice to have that feature. I'm very excited to hear how your sound system actually sounds. I've seen some super realistic stuff from Bier. I'm even more excited to see what you do with the D10. That is next on my list so I look forward to those videos!!!

Great oveview of this machine. Defenitely a sub from me. What is your thoughts of this vs the 4200XL? Also, I have a question in regards to the mixing. As you mixed it in this video the mixing was only for being able to move the bucket and arms while the pump was not on. However, is it possible to mix without the delay so that you use the mixing also when digging? Or do you have to have the pump on 100% when digging?
@HobbyconceptsLLC
@HobbyconceptsLLC 3 жыл бұрын
There is always a small amount of lag because of the pump motor start up time when using the mixing. Probably will always be best to turn the pump on when digging. I do not have any experience with the 4200xl but sure like the 360L!

Great Video..thank you. I had the older 4200 and this looks nicer. I like the mixing idea too. Question is there any way to make the tracks progressive the old ones had speed controllers for each track so you could control the track speed? Also how do you adjust the overall head pressure? Thanks! Tom
@HobbyconceptsLLC
@HobbyconceptsLLC 2 жыл бұрын
On this version the tracks are one speed but seemed to work ok. This has a pressure valve to regulate the pressure. I had one of the valves fail on a dozer and drove me nuts trying to figure it out. Ordered some new better pressure valves on Ali Express and fixed it. More PL18 EV and excavator vides coming soon.,

you might try to set that offset % to a value greater than - 100% and +100% to get rid of the lag. This looks like a Flysky FS-I6s TX which lets u set the percent values for servos to a value greater than 100%

The settings on that radio allows you to switch the channels on the main 4. so you don't even have to move around the actual receiver cables... Just FYI for the next one. I think they call it Stick Mode in the system menu.
@thomasosika5056
@thomasosika5056 2 жыл бұрын
So you can just flip the right to left controls with Stick mode in systems menu? That would set it up like a lot of John Deere machines with dipper and bucket on right stick.
@jleverington
@jleverington 2 жыл бұрын
@@thomasosika5056 yes, on the FS-i6S radio, you can change stick mode, 1 through 4. without actually moving any of the plugs on the receiver, it just maps them differently for channel 1-4 on the radio. So you can switch to standard or JD controls. It is very easy to switch, test it, and switch to next, test it, etc... see which you like best.
@thomasosika5056
@thomasosika5056 2 жыл бұрын
@@jleverington That is great..I would like to switch it up between JD and CAT nice to just be able to on radio rather than switch servo plugs. Thanks!
