Nagato is a really interesting looking ship, and the Hasegawa kit is excellent.

The Japanese really knew how to build beautiful ships. Bluff above the waterline and smooth line contures.and usually a gorgeous bow flare

IJN Ise from Kure Naval Base 1945 have green camo similar to takao and other ships painted at the end of the war. Also IJN had different camo at the end. still shades of grey but bit different. you can easly find photos and movies made by US navy from those bases.

Would you say it's difficult compared to a trumpeter. I always found trumpeter very easy to work with

When it comes to difficulty I think the year the kit was released and the design of the actual ship play a larger role than the brand. For the Hasegawa Nagato I can say that the parts were nicely molded and that they fit together well. I though the kit was very well designed. For example, if you look at the pagoda mast you can see that it is mounted on a tripod. I often find that when mounting masts that have to pass through multiple layers of superstructure that the fit is not quite right and that multiple adjustments need to be made. With this kit, all three legs of the tripod cleanly passed through the superstructure and found their marks on the deck. For overall difficulty, I would say that this kit is a bit more difficult than average because of the detail provided in the kit and the complexity of Nagato's superstructure.

What size righing thread do you use? 0.1 mm or 0.5 mm? For the cables

Where do you buy your Kits in SA? I struggle to find the upgraded brass kits.

I have to import them. The market in SA is far too small for anyone to stock them locally.

I am usually looking for something specific, and often uncommon, so I buy it wherever I can find it. I start by looking for the kit on scalemates.com and try to find a shop that is stocking it from there. There seem to be a number of good shops in Poland. For the less common kits eBay is often good. For backorder kits Hong Kong can have some options. Shipping from Hong Kong got much worse after COVID. Pontos kits are expensive, most super-detail kits are expensive. Super-detail kits are often 2 to 3 times more expensive than the base kit.
