In this video, I complete the model. There are some fun features to this video which you may enjoy. An absolute delight to make this B17, I have loved every second of it. Great fit (in most cases) and it builds into a lovely model in the end. RRP is less than £40 which is a real bargain.

Hello Simon, Here a fellow modeller situated out in North-Eastern Germany but English born. It was whilst we lived in Felixstowe (Suffolk) that we got to know an elderly lady who everybody knew as Netty and who'd always take care of injured wildlife. For this shed even dedicated her entire terraced house which was located down along the seafront just beyond the local swimming pool. Anyhow on one of our visits to Netty my wife had told her about my hobby and that I liked building especially WW2 warbirds and that we we really wanted to visit the Aircraft museum at Duxford. Netty then explained how she had actually been lucky to fly with the Memphis Belle during one of her very last flights just before the crew flew her back to the U.S.. However it was during this flight that the tailwheel became stuck thus the crew had to release this somehow mechanically from inside of the fuselage and luckily they actually managed just before landing back at the Duxford base. So there you go just another piece of history regarding this iconic and probably the most famous of all B17's. Your model looks great and I hope you're keeping well. For now I'd like to say cheers and hope to enjoy some more of your nice models here. Cheers, Gordon

Beautiful montage you made there Simon. The inserted full-scale clips were very appropriate and added a very entertaining touch. Your attention to detail is stunning. I really enjoy watching your videos. Beautiful finished Flying Fortress! Being on the other side of the pond from you, I thank you for interest in American aviation. I recently did a B-25 on my channel. I love the old bombers! Bravo to you on the final reveal! Best looking model WWII bomber I’ve ever seen! Can’t wait to see your next project!

Your build has been very interesting and informative . I am just starting a Revell 1/72 to be "Ye Olde Pub" , with battle damage , your colours look great and the raised-panel lines have definitely worked in your favour with the fine sanding technique . Best wishes from Wales .

I bought one of these and I always scribe old Revell kits and try get rid of all the raised panels and rivets so it'll be a big job when I get round to it...I'm in the process of dealing with Revells old P38 1/32 at the mo which is also a big job...but enjoyable

Excellent build of this great old kit! Ive got one in the stash myself and can't wait to get it on the table. Your tip about some light sanding on the raised details is absolutely perfect for the warbirds painted in drab and or camo patterns like a spit or hurricane. Changes the game completely and has me really looking forward to getting out some of my older Revell/Monogram kits. Thanks and keep up the good work!

I've read such bad things about this kit that I was put off buying it. But you have rekindled my enthusiasm for it. My only problem is work space and I don't think my garden is big enough to keep it!! Might have to stick with the Revell 1/72 which probably means the 1/48. Fantastic result sir, great series, thank you.

Hi Norman. Thank you for your wonderful comment. I really loved building this model.....no problems with it at all. £40 or thereabouts well spent! I would not hesitate to buy it again and do another scheme for it. Next one might be mounted on the wall, as you have said, space is an issue. I look at the completed model every single day.....and I get those tingles every time!!! I am so glad I made it and I am so pleased you enjoyed the build series! 👍😎

I use Tamiya tape for masking....and a sharp blade for cutting out the windows. I don't do anything to reduce the noise of the turret turning.....I seldom turn it anyway. I hope this helps.

Simon, just discovered your channel and thoroughly enjoyed your superb work and watching the wonderful B17 take shape.I am returning to modelling after a break of 40+ years and acquired 4 B17’s & a Liberator in 1/48.I admit I am a little daunted at starting out. Some questions please- 1) Never used an Airbrush (yet),can I get a decent finish using a brush? 2) Loved the pre-shading look,is that possible with a brush? 3) Sorry if I missed it,but you seemed to be handling the model without any gloves, did you seal the paintwork beforehand and if so how? 4) My plan is to suspend my flight of Forts, can you modify the undercarriage to wheels up position? Really appreciate it if you get opportunity to reply. Best wishes from a new subscriber Stuart

Hi Stuart and thanks for subscribing 👍 1) Airbrushing is like anything....it comes with practice. Brush painting is also an art-form when done correctly, but I would suggest you get into airbrushing if you want a decent finish. Once you make the switch from the brush to the airbrush you won't regret it. 2) I have never tried pre-shading using a brush......try it and let me know! 3) I didn't wear gloves.....I have never felt the need to wear them, and I didn't seal the paint 4) I can't remember seeing the option to have the wheels up on this model....I will have to revisit it for you! 😊

Thanks William! I used Tamiya Olive Drab which I mixed with Tamiya Olive Green. (XF-62 and XF-58 respectively) 70% Olive Drab and 30% Olive Green. I used many photographs as reference. Many post shades were added (at least 5) Thanks for your comment 👍
