Hello Tomo! Why is it that I never hear string noise when you play? I understand that you use round wounds (I use flats) but I never hear string noise. Tell me your secret either here or on T F G W please.

Look for his Chromatic Exercise in the practice videos. Going super slow and making sure my fingers were exactly where I wanted them and only touching hard enough at the fret to make good sound. The slow and light part mixed with the changing picking dynamics (you play softer as you go up so you are forced to hear the noises you make) has really been a big part of my practice routine since I came across his lessons.

Before the fire, I had a Peavey Predator (Strat copy) that also was super sensitive to fret pressure. To go back and forth between that guitar and my acoustic was very challenging. Because it was so easy to use too much pressure on the Peavey.

Nice guitar collection! I had to relearn to play more gently with my fretting hand, as I had scarring on my fingers from an injury, I'd gotten in the habit of pressing firmly to avoid buzzing. I ended up with tendonitis and never fully recovered. I bought slender necked guitars with lighter strings and low actions which has helped, with a bit of physio. The Gibson shorter scale is easy to play for me.

I just picked a gaming style chair. My neck is fused in two spots, and playing can be quite uncomfortable. My cat stole it from me. I've been playing with 9s to soften my touch. I used to choke the guitar i like i found in bed with my wife. You're my guitar! No one else is allowed to hold you. The light strings helped because you'll go out of tune quickly if you press too hard.

Could possibly do a guitar beginner lesson for an old guy 80, with old hands showing how to play the most popular chords, but with the absolutely smallest amount of finger movement between chords? I’ve been playing trombone since I was ten. The inversion being used doesn’t matter to me. Just trying to play progressions with the least amount of pain for my old hands, and that I can learn the fastest. How long I have to play before time stops I do not know. Old, but not dead……YET!
