Never thought a gacha game could drive me insane not because the possible of gambling addiction, but it's because of the story. Legit, everytime i'm done doing my commissions, daily farm and resin. I find myself look up to the sky, set my eyes up to celestia and going crazy thinking of the story and the whole world of genshin impact.

Also have you noticed the loading screen quip you get sometimes “The stars in teyvat will always have a place for you”

Khaenri'ah must've fought back REALLY hard 500 years ago, to somehow that conflict result in the death of 3 moons and probably the Dendro Archon's too.

Maybe that's why Celestia destroyed Khaenri'ah. Because they were using the ley lines to create humans through the art of Khemia, they didn't have a "destiny" and once they died, they could return back to the ley lines which would then pass on their memories to the next generation. The gods probably didn't want them to gain information or create humans from the ley lines which is why they destroyed Khaenri'ah. This is also kinda similar to what happened with Sal Vindagnyr. The King, I kinda forgot what happened, went to the Irminsul Tree to get knowledge from the ley lines which the Gods didn't like and so Celestia dropped the Skyfrost nail. Could it be the Great Tree that they don't want the humans to find out? Is that why when a civilization comes close to finding it, they are destroyed? Also I just rewatched the recent Archon Quest "We will be reunited" and our sibling says that "Until the Abyss has engulfed the thrones, my war with destiny will see no end" so perhaps does this mean that our sibling knows about the false sky and that all the people of teyvat have a destiny. So what the Abyss order is trying to do is destroy the false sky which is allegedly created by Celestia which will free the people. But this would also mean that everyone will die. Is this why Dainsleif is against the Abyss Order? And this is why Khaenri'ah is against Celestia. Not only did they destroy Khaenri'ah for getting to know the "truth" but also because they can control the people of Teyvat. Phew, that was long but I really loved your theory. I hope you continue making more❤️

Did you notice, moon and soon goes over celestia and not behind celestia. Does that mean celestia is outside sphere.

I'd just like to add that I'm pretty sure that one of traveler's voice lines says that the stars in teyvats sky are different from the stars of the other worlds that they've been to edit: I checked to make sure and its the voice line named "About Teyvat" the part im talking about says: "The skies here are full of stars, but they aren't the same ones seen from my home."

I actually think we've already seen the 3 moons already, the first one is in the loading screen before we log in, ircc, this one actually has moon cycles and is seperate from the one we see in game. The second one IS the one in game, the one without a moon cycle. The final one is the giant one in the abyss, where its eternally night.

Two weird things I thought about: 1) The playable traveler has a constellation, with separate stella fortunas required for each elemental resonance. So either they *are* originally from Teyvat, or while they are in Teyvat their fate is being controlled by their constellation(s). 2) Now that Aloy is in the game as a "traveler from another world" it makes sense (lore-wise, anyways) that she doesn't have constellations; Aloy isn't really a part of Teyvat in the same way that the other characters are. Aloy has "outside energy" that was brought with her (though Aloy probably isn't canon, but it's still interesting to think that even the guest character is on-point with the lore).

I don't know if this is related but I noticed that the namecard Liyue: In the Clouds which you get by reaching reputation lvl 7 in Liyue, has a mandala like image behind a moon, kinda sus mihoyo

Great video! Have been doing a lot of thinking about this as well, and I have some insights I'd like to share. First off, in the Gnostic text, "Pistis Sophia" the cosmology of the world is described as a series of concentric spheres, known as the aeons. There are 13 of these, and each corresponds to a different material realm in the world, usually represented by the planets (at least, the things they thought were planets, at the time). The outermost sphere is the Zodiac, and it represents a barrier that cannot be crossed. Humans are trapped within it, forced into an eternal cycle of reincarnation by the demiurge. When a person dies, unless they have achieved the gnosis necessary to transcend the mortal world, their memories are stolen by the demiurge and stored in the Zodiac, while their soul is forced into a new body to live again. However, the beings of the heavens ensure that each soul is given a specific set of trials in each of their lives, with these giving them the opportunity to get closer to gnosis in each life. On a tangential note, it would appear that the book "The Pale Princess and the Six Pygmies" is a loosely adapted version of the "Pistis Sophia", with the Pale Princess being a representation of Sophia, and the Prince of Light being her consort, Jesus, who attempts to lead her through the aeons to her own realm in the 13th. Obviously, you can see the parallels, here. A person's constellation is made up of all the past memories of their previous lives, and by reading them, you can get a clue as to what sorts of trials you are destined to face in each life. I also happen to believe that hilichurls are humans that reincarnated into a lower form, but that's only my own speculation, so far. Your connection between the irminsul fruits and the stella fortuna is an intriguing one, and I will definitely be considering it in the future. Secondly, I think you may have dated the death of the moon sisters too recently. In one of the in-game books, the three sisters of the moon tower are said to have witnessed the union of the first seelie and a traveler from afar, with a great catastrophe happening 30 days hence which killed the first seelie. This event predates even the archon war, so it would have been several millennia ago. Oh, one other minor thing. The sustainer did not accuse mortals of "arrogance", but "arrogation". Arrogation is the taking of something without the right or authority to do so. It's a subtle difference, but in the context of your theory, she was not accusing humans of thinking themselves to be like gods, but rather, taking things they don't deserve. I just realized that the lullaby you can hear when the night opening screen is displayed is called "Dream Aria", and one of the moons was called Aria too... The voice sounds melancholic also, almost sad.

I don’t know if anyone pointed this out already, but Ganyu’s story quest animated cutscene, there is clearly a crescent moon, meaning that a moon with cycles definitely existed before.

Oh! Another fun thing that the whole “souls are trapped in the Stella Fortuna” idea helps explain is the predicted appearance of Honkai characters within Teyvat. If the stars are purpose-built “soul nodes”, and if Teyvat truly is Project Arc from Honkai, it would stand to reason that Schicksal cloned or sequenced the dna of the known herrscher hosts and stigmata carriers, providing this seed of humanity “gods” to guide them, forever trapped in long sequences of rebirth. It’s as good as confirmed that Baal, or Raiden, is going to be extremely close in design to Raiden Mei, the Herrscher of Thunder from Honkai. And then there’s the Unknown God being near 1-1 Kiana/Sirin. But… Wait no… why would they clone herrschers? Wasn’t ark an attempt to get humanity as far from the Honkai as possible? Eh, Otto is a psychopath. There might have been some twisted reason.

Coming back to this after a long time: So I'm a 3D artist, and I recently did a bit of a study on mapping the sky, and I could NOT get that pattern of the stars until I deliberately made the texture do that. I tried cubemaps, i tried HDRI's and tried procedurally generated stars and I couldn't make it "stretch" that way without forcing it. As for the moon going over Celestia, its STILL not "fixed" so now I mostly believe it is a design choice. Like, its really not that hard to move a sky texture layer up or down in Unity(then again its not that hard to add 120fps to PC when Mobile has it...). They seem to have at least 4 different sky layers, the Stars/blue sky, Celestia, Moon, Clouds. Also I'm still curious why we can't see Celestia from Inazuma, we could say "world curvature" but then again, we can see pretty much the whole skyline of Liyue and Celestia is much higher. They even force a loading screen between Inazuma and the other 2 Nations so they can load a different sky texture.

Okay, but watching this as in version 4.3 its really shocking still. I went to every region to see if the sky was still like that but I noticed that there was a big part of the sky, that to me, looked like it was being torn apart, and I started to think it was because Focalors tricked celestia and changed the destiny of the people of fontaine, so that had consequences on the stars and now it looks like the false sky is breaking. Also the stars in Fontaine looks different, there is no mandala pattern.

oh my, it’s kind of hard to find really good unique theories with actual well sourced proof for genshin impact nowadays ever since we found out the sky was a lie for me personally. I really like this! even though its not canon (yet XD), i’m definitely taking it as headcanon :D. Mihoyo definitely would put the attention to detail with the dome look of the stars considering how much detail they’ve put into everything else already! funny enough, I did notice the dome circular-ish look of the stars too (ADHD has me over exploring a lot and complete almost nothing because of how curious I get with minor details XD) and I caught myself just looking directly up at the sky for a good few mins and noticed it looked a little too symmetrical and perfect? I had the gut feeling it meant something but I had no facts to connect it to at the time! So this really really satisfied my brain a bunch :P

I always thought that the death of the moon sisters happened wayyyy longer in the past. I’m not sure if there’s any evidence to back this up but I’ve always thought that the great calamity that needed the seelie civilization and the three moon sisters was the archon war.

I don't think it's a coincidence. I especially think that MiHoYo decided to let Scaramouche reveal that the sky is fake because he himself believes that his destiny is not controlled by the Gods. Unlike the Archons, Mortals, and all documented creations that draw their power from the ley lines, Scaramouche and maybe Albedo and the Traveler are the ones that are independent from Celestia's control.

Listening to you theory craft is enough to make me feel inadequate. I never realise there were so much lore hidden in plain sight. I am either too unaccustomed to games being this well made and took everything for granted or just didn't really care. It's like listening to VaatiVidya retelling the lore of Bloodborne or Dark Souls all over again. So entertaining. Got me invested in the game even more.

Theory: The world of Teyvat actually exists inside the Sustainer of Heavenly Principles' cube. In Chinese mythology, time passes slower in heaven compared to on Earth. In the opening scene the traveller's sibling gets cubed first and sent to Teyvat which explains why they have seen things that have happened earlier in Teyvat's history.

Apparently, the Triquetra symbol is a symbol of destiny. It would make sense for it to be the symbol of Celestia since they care so much about destiny. Also, the Mandala apparently symbolizes the idea that life is never ending and everything is connected. Perhaps like a Triquetra symbol. I believe the fates we use to pull characters are also connected to this theory as they look like an astrolabe and have mandala lookin shape on the side. The primogems we use to buy these fates are also probably connected to this theory. And the genesis crystals we use to buy primogems. Primogems are literally the star symbols and the genesis crystals the triquetra. Intertwined Fate: A fateful stone that connects dreams. Its glimmers can entwine fates and connect dreams, just as how its glimmer links stars into the shapes of a heart's desires. Acquaint Fate: A seed that lights up the night. No matter the distance apart, guided by the stone's glimmer, the fated will meet under the stars. Primogem: A primordial crystalline gem that's beyond the mundane world. Shines with the condensed hopes and dreams of universes that once were. Genesis Crystal: An energy crystal from the very origin of the universe. Formed from within nothingness out of pure potential and hope, it contains enough energy to create a newborn star. There's a lot of stars being mentioned here. I can't believe wishing/gacha is such an important element in the lore.

A curious thing about the ley lines is that they could be used to teleport. If you check the description of the teleport waypoints on the map and the portable waypoints, it mentions some interesting stuff. Definitely needs further research!

4:30 I believe two of the moon sisters might have survived since the book mentions the moon in the sky we see today as the 'pale corpse'. Also, I'd like to believe that the dead sister is just imprisoned on the moon rather than actually being dead.

When we "Wish" for characters and weapons they fall from the "Sky" to be in our possession. Could this indicate that the Player, us, not the Traveler, is actually the "Observer of the Quanta"? Making us all the more outside the realm and seeing other version of timelines.. "We've always had enough time *sibling*." Even if it's a gacha game, I wonder if this could qualify as an excuse as to why the characters we collect are separate from the characters in the story modes. Meaning how the characters have been in our party forever, but no one ever knows us, saying they've met us for the first time and the like. =P

Its interesting that the inside of the sky pillar from Dragonspine also features a similar blue gem like material inside it that looks somewhat similar to the material inside the fruit and constellation rocks. Definitely supports the idea that the leylines power is being used for the false sky (Also as a side note since the statues of the seven have a similar appearance to the sky pillar I wonder if maybe they're actually sucking away at the leyline energy somehow)

The symbol on the transmutation table looks like the symbol inside of stormterror's lair in the middle are two rings that rotates clockwise with 4 dots 2 along the inner ring and 2 along the outer ring, 1 dot is filled in while the other 3 are hollow i think this represents the sun and 3 moons of teyvat but it could be something else

This video needs to be reworked and updated after all we have seen in Sumeru so far, I think you are pointing in the correct direction where the lore is taking us in the middle and possibly the long term

I think the description of a new drop from ruin machines plays right into this theory. "In the ancient past, these ruins were once part of a civilization mighty enough to almost touch the dome of the firmament, while "ruin" still waits in the deep places of the earth, awaiting the order to arise and tread all kingdoms underfoot." Oh, there's also a moon in the spiral abyss.

I'm curious about door at the login page, at night you can see that the moon there is always waning it's never full. In comparison to game's constant full moon it just seems interesting. To me it looks like the "login" sky is different from the "game" sky.

The whole astrolabe theory could actually be supported further through the traveller. Think about it the twins are compared to stars in the game, intergalactic travellers who have actually confirmed that there are real stars and galaxies and whole other worlds out there. They've been to dozens of worlds, they get to teyvat and not only is their powers stripped from them by the unknown god but they physically cannot leave. In other words the stars can't return to the sky if there's no visible sky to return to, almost like they were placed under a dome of some sort OR a false sky. Basically they got caught in a cage and technically the only way to escape is to destroy the ceiling ergo challenge celestia, the only threat above the fatui and abyss that is repeatedly brought up in the game.

I remember starting Genshin during this event, but not fully getting into this game until recently. Now I regret not experiencing it when I had the chance.

I think one of the moons is in the start screen when we load up the game. That place looks to be the same place where we encounter the unknow god and it too has a day and night cycle. My guess is 1 moon is in teyvat, 1 is in khaenri'ah and 1 is in the abyss.

There's a loading screen tip that I think outright proves that the stars aint that far. Constellations: Wherever you go, whatever life throws at you... In Teyvat, the STARS IN THE SKY will always have a place for you. what if they meant that literally? That the stars are literally just in the sky.

Amazing summary. I sadly missed Unreconciled Stars (I came in midway through albedo’s banner) and I’ve been sore about it since I discovered it had existed. One of the things this makes me think of is that perhaps teyvat isn’t the “result” of Honkai’s Project Ark, but that it *is* the arc. The characters live on a small, constructed world- perhaps even a disk or ship - with a simulated sky. That definitely conflicts with a few things, though. But it’s a thought. Other unsubstantiated theory: perhaps the other moons were lost in the fall of Kanreiah because the gods literally used them as weapons, pulling them from whatever counts as their “orbit” and dropping them on the nation. And then again, maybe the 3 moons are a metaphor for… something. I’m tired and have had too much sake. You’ve fast become my favorite Genshin youtuber. Okay but this theory is so crazy after the Sumeru archon quest… the energy amplifiers and Stella fortuna look like the knowledge capsules. The reveal of forbidden knowledge fits with this too. Would love it if you made an updated version of this video

This game has soooo much small details that it is IMPOSSIBLE that they would forget the moon cycle and stuff like that. I swear they on purpose put easter eggs all over to make players think about it and keep the hype around the story.

Perhaps only Vision Bearers get Constellations i.e Stella Fortuna specifically 7 of them per and Leonard might have had a Vision and that doesn't seem enough vision bearers for the stars although it may be that of all vision bearers we know Leonard passed away, thn the number makes sense, This also proves my theory of Teyvat being made of the seed of Sumeru from the Honkai manga and the seed is the center of Teyvat and The garden is where the astrolabe exists in the honkai manga as well

The irmensol (sp?) fruit fragments also look a lot like the canned knowledge capsules introduced in Sumeru...

I've just found your channel recently! Really interesting theories! I love to theory craft, specially since I get bored a lot in the game so theorycrafting becomes something that can keep me excited for the game when there is no new story to experience.

Given that Celestia is now a 3D model as opposed to a sprite, that means (if your theory is correct) it's now on the inside of the closed system that is Teyvat. Celestia probably knows what the Fatui are doing and is making preparations to deal with the problem before it gets out of hand. I half expect Scaramouche to say: "When Teyvat starts to settle, Celestia throws a stone at it. And believe me, she's winding up."

Celestia is one of the 'Three Moon Sisters'. The other two got 'eclipsed'. Celestia is the sole survivor, with its dim light. The Three Countries can be seen represented by the Dragonspine Murals. Mondstadt (Moon City / Luna City) is on the left, with a figure of Barbatos. Celestia is on the center, parked above a mountain. In a short amount of time I have become quite the fan of your channel. I am playing through the sumeru archon quest right now, and the more I learn the more I feel shocked on how on point you might be. I almost feel like the Archon quest is about to spell out a lot of whats going on with this false sky buisness as well as irmensyl and I already had a theory about the akasha being a way to manipulate leyline energy to creat an information network. oh this gives me goose bumps!
