Otis, a 1.5 year old Boerboel, came to Off Leash K9 for the Two Week Board and Train. Before training, Otis had a little reactivity and was pretty stubborn. He wouldn't listen if told to do something, even if he knew how to do it!

smart and stubborn... fiercely loyal and protective... u dont want a bored 160 lb. dog... they need daily stimulation or else...

Excellent handling. I trained my RHODESIAN RIDGEBACKS do same and act on hand comands for distance work and non verbal commands for close work too. Nice to see .. well done

Do you have a video of the actual training for Otis learns your hand movements and commands. I have a 4 month and he only responds to sit and walks besides me with a leash. Buts once the leash is removed he runs off. We are stuck at home for the moment due to Cova-19 and have more time to train him now.

during the off leash heeling do you use an electric band or what is it we see around his neck? not saying you do anything bad, only wonder how you work with him?

I'm seeing a lot of small boerbole remarks he hasnt even start to really fill out yet. Give him 2.5 years then let's see . He looks good to me proably 130+ and healthy looking like his owner..Affiliation brings assimilation...

He's a decent sized boerboel...truth is he should be bigger, if you don't mind , I would like to send you pictures and video of my female boerboel. She's twice his size

Exactly right! I've had 2 Bullmastiffs that didn't mature/stop growing until almost 3 years old!

Mine is 175 1.3mths, but I don't get caught up on size.Im looking for function..I know a lot of boerboles bigger but can they function woth the weight. I think his dog is at a weight he can function for his owner expectations.And 175, man its like having a grown man around.Mine is still lean at 175 and good confirmation.I can only imagine when he man spreads and get harder.

@@Damu741 I’m the same way. I always keep my guys lean, forget the "Ive got a huge dog" ego trip. I lost my Bullmastiff last December and am still not over it. It’s the 2nd Bull I have lost to Cancer, and I have given both the best food available (Just food for dogs). Bullmastiffs are my breed, but when I'm ready for another dog, I think it will be a Boerboel, they seem to be a healthier breed.

How does training transfer from one person to another though? He listens to you but will he listen to the owner?

Not necessarily. A dog might understand the given orders very well but if the owners have the charisma of an oyster the dog could very well decide not to listen and ignore the command. See it happen almost on a daily basis. Same with kids. When I say "no don't do that" it sure does work a lot better than when granny says it..... bottom line is for the partnership dog/owner to work, both need to be trained, and while almost any dog can learn, many owners are hopeless.

i like when i got conection with my dog ,not like he is robot i hate that ,i want dog to feel good and free thats why i am not fan of dog training when he is listening more than people hitler
