Another step by step video on how to change a downpipe on a 1.6 THP engine 🔧🛠. This time without removing the lower heat shield.
Parts used:
Exhaust gasket: 170945
Exhaust clamp: 171369
Exhaust bolts: 171824
Exhaust nuts: 171843
The actions shown in this video are (should be) in basic the same for all cars with the 1.6 Prince engine (1.6 THP/Puretech/N13/N14/N18).
For example:
Citroën DS3, DS3R, DS3 racing, C3, C4, C5, DS5. Engine codes: EP6DT, EP6DTS, EP6CDT, EP6CDTM, EP6CDTX, EP6FDT, EP6FDTX.
Peugeot 207 RC, 207 GT, 207 GTi, 207 Le Mans, 208 XY, 208 GTi, 208 GTi BPS, 308 GT, 308 GTi, 3008 GT, 5008 GT, RCZ. Engine codes: EP6DT, EP6DTS, EP6CDT, EP6CDTM, EP6CDTX, EP6FDT, EP6FDTX, EP6FDTR, EP6CDTR.
Mini R55, R56, R57, R58, R59 - Cooper / Clubman / Countryman / Coupe / Cabriolet - S & JCW models. Engine codes: N14B16A, N14B16C, N18B16A, N18B16C.
BMW 1-series (F20) 114i, 116i, 118i, 120i, 3 series (F30) 316i, 320i ED. The BMW N13 engine divers most from the other Prince 1.6 engines.

1:52 Remove the 3 bolts from the upper heatshield
3:00 Remove the boost pipe
4:29 Bracket moved out the way
4:36 Continu removing the upper heat shield
5:23 Unscrew the downpipe at the turbo outlet side
5:29 Fast forward x4
5:56 Use jam nuts to disassemble the studs
7:00 Downpipe disconnected from the turbo
7:10 Disconnect and remove the lower O2 sensor
8:52 Remove the downpipe by lowering it
9:35 Exhaust gasket: 170945
10:01 Lower heat shield doesn't need to be removed
10:40 Install the new downpipe
12:24 Install the upper heat shield
12:38 O2 sensor installed

Love your vids man! Quick question if I may? Is it necessary to remove the turbo studs or did you jus do it for convenience?

Good question! I think it might be possible, but in that case I suspect that the lower heat shield must be removed. So, yes, for convenience it was for sure.

Nice video,the downpipe use a 200cpi sport Cat?any problems for "Mot/ITV" test?

Yes, it is a sport downpipe with catalytic converter. No issues at all as the catalytic converter does is work properly. A straight downpipe (without catalytic converter) will always give issues during an annual check up. Depending on country regulations ofcourse.

I did the same . I couldnt solve the problem of the leakage. Is the gasket metal or some rubber ? Mine is metal and I feel the smeel inside due to leakage.

Probably not the question for this video. Is it possible that clogged up cat converter decrease power output and sounds like it has massive hole? I have forge mototsport air intake. I wonder, because cat is not cheap .

The 1.6THP 150, 156, 174bhp don't have a MAF, only MAP sensor.

how did you unscrew the bolts of the thermal cover of the catalyst before removing it completely

the lower heat shield doesn't need to be removed. If you unscrew it a bit on one side you can lower the downpipe. A replacement downpipe can be fitted from the bottom. Check the detailed downpipe-change video to see where all screws are located.

I have the same car but the nut closest to the radiator I cannot remove I have no leverage you look like you have more room than I do was it only the heat shield you removed?

Check the other videos of the downpipe changes. It should be an easy job if you follow the same steps.

It is a sport downpipe with catalytic converter. Check the 'downpipe' playlist (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/obmmna2jnJq5mYE.html) for more videos including changing the original downpipe, though the work is simply the same.
