As part of the Air Defence Command, the two-seat F-101 interceptor formed the backbone of American Air Defence for many decades. The first modified F-101B versions entered service with the USAF on 05.01.1959. Their armament included the new M-13 Weapons Control System for the AIM-4G Falcon Guided Missile which was housed in a rotating housing within the fuselage. Alternatively, two MB-1 Genie missiles with a nuclear warhead could becarried. The last three F-101B Squadrons were disbanded in 1971.

Looks like someone ordered a 55 gallon drum of MoJo and the delivery guy showed up with 2 - 55 gallon drums of MoJo! Watching you build this aircraft reminded me of my father who introduced me to scale modeling. No airbrush, painting parts on the sprue. I think you did a beautiful job on this aircraft! And trust me my friend, look at the views you have received in just 2 days!!!! You give people all over the world a gift of love everytime you build and post one of your video's. I check almost everyday to see if you have another build, looks like there's a lot of people that do the same thing. May God continue to bless you, and I thank you. Wakeman

It's beautiful. My brother, who retired a Lt Colonel, used to fly the Voodoo. I was a child but I sure remember that plane. My brother gave our mother an 8x10 picture of the Voodoo with him sitting in it, helmet and full dress. It hung on her wall until she passed away. He had just landed I think.

The Voodoo was complex and difficult for a lot of pilots during that time to master it and qualify to fly it. It was way ahead of its time. A lot of advanced electronics. But the pilots that did fly it loved it.

Absolutely stunning build, my friend! Did you know that you were one of the first people who influenced to get into the hobby? I started out with no airbrush. Just like you did. With this remarkable aircraft. next month marks one year that I've been building models, exactly. I can't thank you enough! What a fantastic time I've had. It also helps with battling my demons. Thank you! God Bless and keep you.

AlexModelling: Liked the way you build those kits.!!! (Music too loud.!!) I started my first kit, a Lindberg Line "quarter scale", in 1958, it was, (and still is - in mint condition in my shelves), a Chance-Vought F7U-1 "Cutlass", (in blue plastic). My second and thirt models were the Frog 1/72, D.H. "Venom", and the Gloster "Meteor" F.8.!!! I still have ALL my models and theyr BOXES, since then.!!!! I think I have more than 1000 models.!!! And, like you, I almost do all the paiting with brushes.!!!! Kudos to you, and thanks, from the land of the Cross of Christ too.!!!!

Alex so glad you are back! Great model. As a child I saw these aircraft in this paint scheme when they were in the Texas Air National Guard. Yes, the TANG. It was a popular orange drink in that era. So it was also a bit of a joke. I knew a fellow who flew the F-101 for the TANG, and he hated it. The voodoo was unstable in roll, and it was easy to get into what was called a dutch roll, where you could not damp out roll motion easily. He lived for the day when his squdrn moved from the F-101 to the F-4 E. I love that you put the genie on board. Go nuclear!
@AlexModeling
@AlexModeling 8 жыл бұрын
+TalksWithDirt Thank You! i read a lot about the Voodoo and they talked about the instable factor that he had... those days a few jets were not very reliable (f-104 starfighter) but they were on duty because of the rate of climb and speed wich was usefull to intercept Russian Bombers... always glad to watch your comments man! thanks

Such a cool plane! We had one on static display at my old AFB Bregstrom. Plus we had the F-4RC phantom flying around every day. That was back in the mid 80's, they closed down the base a couple of years after I got out in 91.

Well done! This model in 1:48 was probably the last model I built in the late 80s. Yours turned out much nicer. Back then I was limited to whatever few Testors paints and supplies my local store carried and being pre-internet I was self taught with the exception of what I could glean from the occasional copy of Fine Scale Modeler magazine I managed to find. Videos like yours give me the inspiration to gather up some higher quality supplies and try my hand at it again. The 101 wasn't my best work, that distinction was to a heavily weathered winter camo F-4 and A-10 I did, but it turned out ok for what I had to work with in terms of supplies and talent.

Oh, they are beautiful in flight. This is true of virtually any aircraft because each are, in essence, dynamical sculpture: they flex and ripple with the differences in the air they are passing through and It turns out beautiful aircraft tend to have superior performance. I loved the love you put into your craft. I built my VooDoo in less than 3 hours and really couldn't wait to put it on that little stand Revell provided for display. 3 months! Now, that is a true labor of love. You said everything I could say about the F-101 VooDoo. All the same, you still put on decals like we learned to do. It's a generational connection.

@@jamestabor7725 James, I think the only base in England that had F-101's was Bentwaters/Woodbridge so we were probably there at the same time. I left in July 1962. The name isn't familiar so he must not have been in weapons. Do you know what he done? My older brother built me a F-101 model when he was in a VA hospital long term care. He was in his 80's and passed away shortly after that. He made a few mistakes with it but I am proud of it anyway.

i'm relatively new to model building. I'm starting off again after not building a model since middle school. I am determined to make my Airfix 1:72 P-51 look as authentic asI can make it. My ingenuity has gotten better with age it seems. As an idea I tried using household drywall spackle to fill the seam lines. Worked pretty dang well in my opinion. I love watching thee model builds to get better ideas for how to do things more efficiently os I figured I'd give my 2 cents back.

On the True Metal from AK, step 1. APPLY.... 2. LET DRY 3. Polish & then SEAL with matt or gloss varnish? Is that the proper procedure? As you can see, I was re-watching this build for the , oh, I don't remember...probably 10th time!!! I swear, I never get tired of watching your builds. You are very talented my friend and your way too hard on yourself. This model looked FANTASTIC! As far as the riveting, you'l get better and better the more often you do it, I promise. AlexModeling That's the thing. The real trick to advertising is not trying to shove product down a users throat, but to inadvertantly use the product and make them envious. All of that "buy this today and get 20% off" doesn't really work for people. But I know you weren't trying to sell anything :).

I think it turned out just awesome, Alex. Sleek and shiny, and dirty in all the right places. I like the way you use the True Metal waxes for the panels - I ordered some right after watching your video :-) - Trevor (Excellent video editing, too!)

Great job Alex. I'm building that kit too and it poses quite a few challenges- poor fit of the cockpit tub, weapons bay, intakes and wing roots, and the lack of locating holes for the main gear and pitot tube. I can see why it took you 3 months! Still it does build into a good model of a majestic aircraft.
