Excellent video; I'm still struggling to let go of my seven-year relationship. My former significant other, who I genuinely thought was the love of my life, broke up with me a month ago, and I just can't seem to move on. I'm feeling irritated and powerless since nothing has worked to bring him back into my existence. I've tried to move on, but my heart still hurts for him, and I can't see myself with anyone else. I apologise for posting this here, but I just can't seem to move on from missing him.

When I go on a 1st date and when I start a new relationship, I repeat to myself over and over : "it's okay if he's not my person. It's ok if we're not meant to be together. If he leaves or loses interest, it's because he has enough information to know that I'm not the one for him, and if I had access to the same information, I would probably choose to leave as well." It stops me from throwing myself headfirst into relationships.

3 months is a probation period in the relationship! You’re looking to see which green or red flags are present, but not ready to make that person everything yet!

If fireworks are that "special thing," and the rest of every day life is the important bit, to me, the "fireworks" are what separate "everyday" from "events.". I need to live my everyday harmoniously-- that's the most important for functioning. And my family and friends and community fit into the everyday. I think a good partner should fit into the everyday for long-term compatibility, but I ONLY watch fireworks with a partner! I refuse to date someone who doesn't have a yearly regular schedule of "fireworks shows" scheduled as well as the ability to integrate into the day to day long term. Otherwise, why? It feels like family or friends, platonic physically and emotionally and spiritually, and I already have those. I wouldn't date someone who didn't start out with fireworks. I don't expect them forever, but dating and coupling seems pointless to me without them coded into a relationship over time, unless you have arranged marriages or date only for compatibility and not chemistry as well.

The solution is to build up your love and respect for yourself. Fill your needs elsewhere so you’re not relying on one person to that. Get educated. Value yourself enough to let someone walk away. They did you a huge favor. Grieve it, yes, but we have to focus on ourselves and our own needs and stop self-abandoning for these turds.
