Nice work Jake.I just planted a date palm tree here in my house in Texas and almost did the same steps you did on that tree.Thank you for sharing your experience with everyone.

I really needed this. I used to have a big fig tree in my backyard, an ideal plant for extreme sun exposition, but it died after 30 years and I now have a desert in summer, no grass, no nothing, that tree was essential to balance the heat in the garden. I now grow tomatoes there, but there's a big empty spot where I was used to see my old friend, and I want to replace it with a nice, productive tree. Thanks for the video.

I have 3 small date palms that I germinated from seeds they are growing really slow and I listen to NPR as well thanks for all of your info.

I worked at a restaurant, so I talked my boss into getting the breakfast egg shells and the coffee grind for two month . Cost-free, very recommendable material .

i really love dates palm tree..i started planting dates in my garden..

It takes me 1 to 2days to dig a hole in my yard I start the hole when it starts getting hard or I start hitting the big boulders I fill the hole with water let it soak for 30 minutes to an hour then I remove the big rocks and continue with only a shovel and repeat the process until I get at least a good 2’ depth the pick dose not work for me as I get sparks as the pick hits the rocks and it’s honestly harder on my body. The water softens the dirt when it get absorbed making it easier to shovel it. I’m in zone 9 I figure that what you can grow there/Arizona I can try here as my dream is to creat a food forest your videos are very informative I have a fig,Myers lemon,persimmon,loquat,2 Barbados cherry, 866 jujube,brogden & oro negro avocado,Lila & poncho avocados,2 star fruit trees,strawberry guava,Taiwan guava,ice cream banana,dwarf banana,Santa Rosa plum just bought a Carrie mango and two paw paw 12” trees but I’m not ready to plant those on ground until they gets bigger. Your videos help me determine where to plant my trees based on their care from fertilizer to wind,sun,and cold tolerance Again thank you

You mentioned wanting to grow apple trees in a climate good for apple trees - Sonoma County, north of Santa Rosa, not far from the Russian River is a great location. Heirloom growers near there also.

Excuse me if I missed something. How do you consume the food you grow in your own garden when you live in apartment complex? Do you have your own garden at the apartment complex?

I've been trying to grow some date seeds & 1 out of 4 rotted,the sprouted one died because I planted them horizontally,they needed to be planted vertically so the top half of the seeds are exposed on top & kept dry. I planted the second lot & my neighbour Steele decided to come over very early one morning while I was still in bed & pinch the seeds, it's happened before where he's pinched an avocado seed that I had planted. I found one dug up one morning so I just replanted it,now it's on its way from being a seedling to becoming a tree. I planted some more date seeds but I moved them closer to the house,so no wonder they have needed to relocate me from people who was like that when I was living in a suburban area. What's worse is he's about a 43-44 year old man whose not looking like he's going to be able to be even relocated from even his parents place & that's who he still lives with !!!!

I need your help ASAP, I got 10 shoot dates palm on May29, delivery people put in ground and they put horse manure and B1, after 5 day all palm tree was dry , they remove today , they still on a ground , but inside I see they all green and alive , I’d like to safe them ! Hey Jake, Thanks for making another videos about plants. Please tell Shamus O'Leary that the Indian Jujube or Apple Ber is juicy, contain alot of water but weak on taste. It's....ok. However Shamus O'Leary need to try the Sugar cane jujube, GA 866 jujube, Sherwood jujube, Massandra Jujube, Honey Jar Jujube or the Shanxi Li Jujube these contain high level of sugar, apple favor and very crispy. Stay away from Lang and Li type.

After the fruit tree been planted for a few years how would you add the rock dust? Can you just add water to It and feed the tree that way? Or just do it like fertilizer just untop of the dirt?

It's so simple to plant a date tree :)... please visit our website and you'll see how many of these trees we have :) www.farmstay.ae we're having more than 800 pcs :) it's not an engineer to plant them, dig a hole and put them and start watering them.. but the engineer comes after they grow up :)
