Great job sticking to Dana's method! Her method is SO much better than typical decluttering methods we've all used in the past.

Thank you! Finally someone who shows the thinking behind each item. That’s my issue. Small insignificant items are annoying: junk drawers, office supplies, night stand junk. :( thanks for the inspiration.

Lol! I have accent pillows for every season for my main living room (these are for the TV living room). I love them! However, the cats stay off the couch in the main living room, but love the couch in the TV room.

Good job! Two suggestions: 1. Start with the larger items (suitcases, pillows), because it will make the biggest impact and also make it easier to move around and to see the smaller items. 2. Show before-and-after comparisons at the end of the video.

You did this SO WELL! I subscribed. “Take it there now” is definitely a work out but it helps me so much. I enjoyed that you sat down and did the pillows because everything counts as decluttering. I do have to say I wanted to hug you when you said “why didn’t I just deal with this?” Because KIDS, and LIFE, and HOMESCHOOL. Sometimes we just can’t. And the master bedroom is a very common catch all ground. Just don’t want you to be so hard on yourself. Great job overall! Thanks for sharing!

You do a great job explaining and demonstrating Dana’s method. It’s nice to see you crediting her ideas as well. I often see other KZfaqrs using her methods but not saying they come from her. She’s so generous with her teaching and materials. She’s helped me so much.

My room kinda looks like this too. And I have been procrastinating on finding homes for everything. Mostly i have lots of papers, momentos and pictures. I know those are the hardest to declutter. I’m also a seamstress/crafter so when I come across things that need mending or articles of clothing that can reinvented I keep them. Which in turn means I have to give them a new home since their old home doesn’t work for them anymore. It’s pile shifting at its best! 😂

I am sitting here yelling, "Just put the table runner and towel out NOW!!! Please put it out 🤪🤣!!" So you don't have to touch it or deal with it again! (Recovering over-thinker and perfectionist here, but changing with Dana's help ☺). You did an amazing job!! ❤

To adjust this for myself, I would have separate boxes for the bathroom, living room etc and put items in there to put away after I'm done in the room I'm in. I'm disabled and the back and forth to other rooms would tire me out. Plus, it saves multiple trips to other rooms as I find other items.
@Lglandorf6
@Lglandorf6 2 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a perfect plan for you. The reason it doesn't work for someone like me is that I would be so exhausted, distracted, ADD-driven, etc. that those other boxes would sit around and not put away. LOL
@bethb5076
@bethb5076 2 жыл бұрын
I am glad you found something that works for you with your disability! When I’ve tried that I just end up with boxes of things that don’t get put away and then I forget what they are and have to go through them AGAIN. I have to take it there now or it doesn’t make it back to it’s home.

Good luck with the rest! You definitely made progress. I think you would’ve had a bit better time if you started on actual easy stuff - you skipped straight into a difficult thing that *didn’t already have an established home (the hat). I would’ve looked around for the biggest most obvious or in the way stuff that just needed to be put away like the suitcases. Also I recommend getting a helper to do the running around!

The second step is to take things back to their already established home. If it doesn’t have an established home, then it’s not step 2. Step 2 is supposed to be easy.

Maybe u can have separate baskets/boxes to put it in that same space. Make piles.
@trumax33
@trumax33 10 ай бұрын
Making piles is not encouraged when using Dana K. White's decluttering method. Taking items NOW to "Where you would look for it first" makes handling that item a done deal. And if your decluttering session gets interrupted, only progress was made!
@valeriereneeharper
@valeriereneeharper 7 ай бұрын
That’s why it’s called the no mess method. No piles!! It’s important not to make piles which goes against ALL my instincts lol But her method works when it’s followed correctly.
