It's another One Hour Better session! We set the timer and start working for an hour using my No Mess Decluttering Method. That way, at the end of an hour we've made progress, and ONLY progress.
I just have to note that my lovely volunteer wanted to work in her garage because she feels so good about the work she's already done in her house because of the Take Your House Back course! And it just happens to be open for registration right now! Go to TakeYourHouseBack.com to learn more and to register!
Want the in-depth guide to my decluttering process? Get my book, Decluttering at the Speed of Life: www.aslobcomes...

Love this 'One Hour Better' series! It really does help to have someone there that is not sentimental about stuff. Just asks you the right questions and helps you to move forward, and have fun at the same time.

I had a burst of energy today and decided I would work in the garage. I plugged in my phone and turned on KZfaq and this video was the first one that came up. I already had my black bag and my recycle bin so I knew I was off to a great start. The pusher was the title of the video. One hour better and I felt so good. I continued for a couple more hours and then I stopped, stepped back and enjoyed THE PROGRESS. To be continued. Thank you.

Omg, Im the type of person that takes everything out of the box or shelves and end up overwhelmed at the end only to see a mess everywhere. I also have A lot of boxes and bag full of stuff from my junk drawer that every time the junk drawer gets full I just empty it outnin a box and store the bags in my closet for when I find the perfect time to go through the stuff. Which it never happens I just don't really want to deal with the stuff. But after watching your videos, now It makes completely sense of putting the stuff where we would go looking for them right then and there. Thank you so much.

I love that you never undermine or devalidify (idk if that’s a word) people’s reasons/excuses. We are so hard on ourselves and when we let an expert come in they could totally demean and put us down for a decision we probably could have fully obviously known was stupid (if you didn’t understand the reasoning, as most don’t bother to even ask)…but you didn’t. Ok yeah maybe to most she could have thrown away the pool noodle and she even processed the situation that way but you didn’t let her or make her feel worse. No ☝🏼 if he needed it that’s ok…👍🏼 but let’s put it where he will know where it is when he looks for it. I love that! As a semi-former slightly reformed hoarder that’s the kind of support that actually helps me get better 🥰

The cord/electronics spot was a breakthrough for me. I used an empty drawer, sorted like items together, decided a max # of cords needed based on my devices, recycled any excess through e-waste program. Now anytime hubby or I needs a charger we know it’s in that drawer. iPhone items together, computer cords together, charging blocks, battery packs etc.

I was decluttering my garage to get rid of mystery bins and to put things in church sale. Yay! A lot of the stuff was from my mother's attic and I was just sure I would not be able to get rid of it. However, having a few years of it taking up room has motivated me to get rid of some of it. So, I just made decisions without really thinking about it much because I thought why have I been saving this all this time? It was duh donation for most of the stuff in there. Advice: if you have something from a person who has passed, give yourself some time before you go through it. Time will allow you to see what's precious and what is better given away!
