Broodwar turrets have 200hp vs sc2 turrets at 250hp. Sc2 yamato does 240dmg.

for whatever reason, BW Yamato was chosen to do 260 Explosive damage, which doesn't matter on anything except Zealots, who survive on 1 HP (back when Zealots were 80/80, they would've died too). A Mutalisk has 120 HP, 260 x 50% = 140, Muta dies anyways. There's some discussion in the SC:Evo server to just make it regular damage, because it doesn't run into any unit in the base game where the distinction matters, but it does cause some wonky behaviors in SC2, like Phoenix, who can survive the hit on 20 hp.

from what i saw in artosis' vids, he plays the game terran BW like how it is done in BW. while thermy plays terran BW adapting it in SC2 mechanics/engine. i am no expert but without harassment to a zerg or protoss, they will outgrow very fast

because artosis dont have deep knowledge on sc2 , basically arty opening exactly the same when he was playing bw, and his micro and macro isnt that great as uthermal, so all he can do is yell lmfao

@@mirrorking2 Which makes sense, the micro/macro side is all SC2. You can't just play as if it's strictly SC1. I remember watching him play that match against zerg and wondering why the fuck he's not even TRYING SK Terran. The reason why a player like Artosis would avoid SK Terran in brood war is because it's really hard to macro and control. It's really really easy to control it in the SC2 engine.

16:15 The mine was activated by the stalker, but since sc2 workers get targeted automatically (in BW they don't), the probes got targeted by the mine.

Not really Blizzard's fault. It was the giant Korean corpos. Korea has giant mega companies that want majority if not all the profit from all tournaments without giving Blizzard a dime. All of the Brood War tourneys gave Blizzard 0 profit. Korea used shady practices. So Blizzard destroyed LAN and updated TOS so they won't get screwd over. The result is that many SC1 Pro's were prohibited by mega corporations to migrate over, since the corps own the players. Many wanted to, but were unable to. Big Corpos refused to provide real funding to SC2 the same way they did for BW.

Nice unit to troll with: as one of the only two unit that swears, it's good to see it being swear inducing. EDIT: BW Turrets only have 200 HP so they can be OHKO'ed by Yamata from any version of BCs. Interesting enough, BW Yamato can destroy SC2 Turrets so that's going to be fun in Evo mod Terran mirror matches.

@16:00 I think the reason the spider mine hit the probes is because of the warp in. Maybe the warp in triggers it to un-burrow, but then it can't target it, so it targets the nearest unit.

There's currently a bug where, despite it only popping out if a non-hover unit walks by, it can target probes and other hover units if they're closer.

He's too used to turtling where in SC2, you always want to harass with whatever you got, even with a pebble. Turtling is his major downfall in this mod.

How to prep for SC2 Evo: Play the SC2 campaigns, pretty much all the SC1/BW units are in the campaigns at some point. You can learn how to use them and their drawbacks/good points there. The only things that aren't really in the SP campaign that I know of are some of the upgrades... and regular dropships/shuttles I don't think are a thing.

If I recall correctly, spider mines don't target workers and units that "floated", I remember Archons were also immune to spider mines.

26:19 In Brood War missile turrets have 200 hp and yamato deals 240 dmg. In SCII your trick would work, since the turret has 250 hp. There is your answer.

I'm pretty sure it's actually just ridiculously overpowered. That's not necessarily to say that SC1 terran as a whole is overpowered, but if you gave the vulture to SC2 terran I'm pretty sure it would be so far beyond other races that there would be no point playing anything else competitively (until it was nerfed).

Re: Mines, I think there's currently a bug where the Spider Mines only detect grounded, non-hover units, but when they are activated, they sometimes choose to attack workers if they're closer. Re: Turrets, I think BW turrets have less HP FYI, Don't forget about Comsat

(fyi - kinda like stutter stepping, in BW you'd move, spam patrol behind a target, & immediatly command the unit to continue moving in the original ditection; the vulture will fire - while moving and w/o slowing - in any direction, i.e., to units chasing behind that would have to stop to attack)

There is a mod called SC EVO COMPLETE Crossover that has a few small tweaks like tank siege mode is available without upgrade and transports have a boost ability as an upgrade similar to medivacs.

Yeah the targeting on the mines seems odd. It 100% went for probes there. 16:05 A freshly laid mine seems to be capable of targeting probes.

My theory is that the stalker put triggered the mine into the "active" state, it then took a second to search for the closest enemy unit and locked on to it. And that just happened to be the probe.

It blew up because the probes attacked the mine before it had fully burrowed, the probes were on attack move.

By the looks of it, it seems that the Stalkers triggered the mines before they can "plant" itself since they're already in range. I don't play SC2 but it looks like that warping units are untargetable or invalid targets so it probably triggered a condition whenever the target is at that state.

I watched it at .25 speed. First off, Marc's commentary at that speed made me laugh so hard it hurt. Secondly, it absolutely popped up and targeted the probes. Seems like some sort of a bug where maybe it goes after A-moving units? Hopefully the devs address it because that is a major balance problem if so.

18:15 Dropships DOES move faster, but they actually have looooong acceleration. You should be able to notice that when you replay the video on that game on your initial pickup and drop

15:50 watched it several times, there was no other fighting unit, the spider mine did specifically target the probe. even more apparent on 0.25x speed, but beware: Thermy sounds on that speed like a couple cans short of a six-pack :)

I think that mine POPPED UP to attack a warping in stalker... then went after the nearest unit... aka the probs. Might be that mines WILL attack workers but they won't POP UP vs "hovering" units. No idea if that works the same in Brood war... 99% sure it does not. Seen to many mines pop up and do the boogy woogy trying to get past a bunch of workers after 1 zealot

It's a bug. It happens to a pair of drones at 34:44. Best I can tell is the mines are able to target an a-moved worker holding gas.

would vulture+valkyries be a good combo? i feel like they would be especially good against zerg as you can also do overlord run bys as well as drone. I have no idea of the stats of valkyries, not sure how many are needed to kill muta's overlords, or other units reliably fast.

See.... this is why SC2 proper could use a number of Campaign units be added to multiplayer. If THIS is what happens when BW units get put against SC2 ones, i wouldn't mind seeing a ladder mode or regular balance patch that brings something like Impalers, Deep Tunnel Hosts, Reavers, Darchons, Dbacks, Splash Vikings make appearances. (With suitable downtime between seasons to allow people to get used to them)

uThermal can you try this in next SC1 Terran on vultures: place the spider mines and press Patrol instead of right click, the vulture will move/planting spider mine and fire at the same times. SCBW has this mechanics and we use it alot on TvP because want to plant mines and run and kill speed zealots.

I always hated vultures because of how awkwardly they moved and how hard to control they were. And spider mines were even worse. They were slow to go down, moved in weird ways. And when they pop up to attack, they would be slow at first, move weirdly, and were just as likely to blow up your own units. But I guess micro gods are better able to use them than I ever could...
