It is. What I find remarkable is that this is precisely where the match was turned around. Neil was 5-1 ahead in the match at this point. He barely potted a single ball for the remainder of the match, and lost 5-6. I don't know if Neil was affected by the strange incident, but he played very poorly for the rest of the day.

What a dumb comment. He was convicted for assaulting a woman (caught on cctv) and subsequently banned for 4 months from competitions by the snooker governing body. He is now under investigation for match fixing. The "man" is a buffoon.

Maguire's shot was the craziest ive seen. The red he wanted to pot was just hit so hard it bounced off the cloth and i think it got heavy backspin when it touched the leather around the edge of the pocket. Its like when a table tennis player puts spin on the ball but... i mean come on, a table tennis ball is just about weightless compared to a snooker ball, imagine trying to add this amount of spin into a red with a piece of smooth leather. Its just crazy

I disagree. I think the spin was imparted onto the red from the cue ball. The cue ball was hit aggressively with lots of backspin. Because it left the surface of the table it transferred that spin into top spin on the red. It also caused the red to bounce up which meant it hit a part of the pocket leather that caused it to spin upwards and backwards away from the pocket. That top spin continued allowing it to carry on forward again into the pocket.

@@Woody991 You understand that pool and snooker are different games, where the balls are made differently, the cushions are different, the surface of the table is different and the balls react in different ways, right? Spin transfer in snooker is negligible to non-existant.

I haven't seen this shot before but I'd assume he'd either try his best and obviously hit the pink, or just hit straight into the pocket. Either way, he wouldn't get a miss, since the red obviously wasn't on. My assumption is, just straight into the pocket. Not great, considering where the next red for the opponent lies, but what else can you do.

A shame Maguire's cue ball went in, would have been one of the best flukes if the white stayed out - as it was, it was one of the most amazing shots but not really a "fluke" as it wasn't beneficial.

He was on for a 147 maximum break but hitting the yellow scuppered his intended position on the black. The rude gesture was directed at the cue ball not his opponent. The referee rightly gave him a warning for it at the end of the frame.
