‘1 lakh suicides; both state, central govts neglect farmers’: TN farmers protest in Delhi

Tamil Nadu farmers have once again knocked the political corridors of the national capital - with demands of loan waiver, irrigation, higher minimum support price, and implementation of the Swaminathan Committee’s recommendations.
Protesting at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, farmers said the promises made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of the 2019 elections remain unfulfilled. Modi had reportedly promised to double the income of farmers by 2022 and implement the Swaminathan Committee’s recommendations, including deciding the MSP as per the cost of production.
The farmers, symbolically sitting with alleged human skulls and bones, told Newslaundry that about “one lakh farmers had died by suicide across India under the Modi regime”. One of them said both the state and central governments have been neglecting farmers, and if their demands are not met, they will protest in Varanasi against PM Modi’s nomination.
“Please, please save farmers,” said one of the protesters, who also accused the Delhi police of excesses. They alleged that the cops had assaulted them and did not allow them to speak to the media.

Their demands: 1) Crop price 2) River Interlink 3) Loan waver and pension of 5000/month 1) Modi Govt gives 1.78 Lakh crore on Fertilizer Subsidy (11.11% of total budget) 2) This amount is same as Education + Health budget together. 3) Modi govt gives PM-Kisan. Rs 6000/year to every farmer. 5000/month is impossible. 4) Modi govt increased MSP 2 times from 2014. 5) River interlinking is huge project. Work in Rajasthan and MP started for that. Nobody has magic wand to wave and link all rivers. Rajasthan has worse water crisis than Tamil Nadu. So, for only these 3 (2 real 1 fake) demands, they are protesting. It is clearly a Opposition paid gimmick to confuse people. First let DMK give MSP for all corps and run a pilto project. Then ask Modi to do that. Even Punjab, the forerunner of MSP, has not done this, despite AAP's election promises. So, first analyze the real situation and then shout shame shame.

@@vsansanv29101_sd Modi gave loan waiver to Industrialist so that they can set up more industries to create more jobs. And that loan Waver money did not go to waste. A specialist company trying to recover that money and already recovered 15%. Farmers also has a scheme called Crop Insurance. It is also a centrally sponsored scheme which will minimize the damage a Farmer can face. There are lots of options available now, but you have to know all those options when farming to get maximum returns.

@@vsansanv29101_sd As I already pointed out, Just fertilizer subsidy alone has been given more budget than health and Education sector together, then you have PM-KISAN, Crorp Insurance, Low-interest loans, unsecured loans, These also needs money. How much more burden you want to put on Indian taxpayers? And from what sector do you expect govt to cut from? Do you have any Idea?

Entry 14 of State list of Schedule VII of the constitution mentions agriculture as a state subject. Then what's the point of protesting in Delhi? Why did they don't ask their state govt first for these demands? And as always they keep asking for loan waivers, freebies etc. Yet to see someone actually asking for farming education. Farming is also a science at the end and Indian farmer yield is one of the worst, that too after heavy use of fertilizers and pesticides. Why these people never ask for getting better education instead of asking short term freebies? This all seems like a propaganda driven protest then an genuine one.
