I did this in the summer of 1985... with only old ice and lots of unconsolidated rocks. Insecure but technically straightforward. This looks much more like a north face should!

Well, of course I was kidding too! The Gornergrat is the best spot to take incredibile photos! Italian side, IMHO, is better for food, as you mentioned and little lower prices. Take care!
