Thanks for the idea! I have a 70 F600 tow truck that the petina is really awesome on it! Some spots though have a LOT of paint missing. (Too much to leave bare metal). I wasn’t sure how I was going to fix that and maintain the petina look! NOW I know how! Thank you!!

Glad I could help. I might add too if you look around some paint stores can color match spray cans.

I've used this technique as well. What I've found that works best is those cheap Jersey Gloves, Ace Hardware's Rust Stop paint ( cheap & comes out in a fan pattern), and a cool humid night (or during the winter in the shop when you barely have temp). When your all done with everything, hit it all with a little Rustoleum Satin Clean to keep it from "chalking" and your good to go for a lot of years. Good Vid.

To me the way you put that black paint on makes it look like the hood's original color. I know you still need to see it in the sun but it looks awesome so far.

@@HardCoreFab Nothing :) Its just that bad paint or rust is not patina. the word is just misused sometimes.

@@73xlh I received my MFA as a professional sculptor many years ago, and patina was a finish we had on our bronze sculptures. Seems that now it is accepted for a natural appearing finish on anything. Language and it's uses changes regularly, so I'm over it. Regards, Solomon
